Habs fans topic 07-08

Recommended Posts

Even tho the elbow was cheap I give props for Kovalev. Everyone thinks he's a typical sniper and never likes the physical stuff, but if you mess around he isn't gonna take any shit especially from a player like Hollweig. As a Habs fan it's good to see some emotion in Kovalevs game this year, and he's got the points to back it up.

Big difference between not liking the physical stuff and then throwing head shots at will. And it is not a good thing.

I never seen the game yesterday, but i seen the highlights. It must of been a bad game if they where up 3-0 and lost 5-3. and i hope Hollweg gets suspended that hit was very dirty, it was basically revenge for the Kovalev hit on him, and i was also pretty impressed with Boullion for dropping the gloves with a heavyweight like Colton Orr.

Cheap shots are never justified. Thats a Bertuzzi-esque mindset. If someone does something to you and you take exception to it, handle it like a man. Don't elbow someone in the face and skate away. Its never justified, its gutless.

Cheap shots that happen quickly within the same shift at least have a "heat of the moment" justice about them...it's the ones that happen later in the game...or in the next game that really, really bug me. Not saying it's "right" just easier to understand (in my mind at least)

It's easier to understand an extreme (over-)reaction in the heat of the moment than a premeditated attack.

If Holweg only got 1 game (un match)....I don't think Kovy's getting anything.

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/245136.html

He drills at least one person from behind in every game. My money is on him to be the next one to cripple someone.

I agree Hollweg is dirtbag that hrows alot of cheap hits, even when Hollweg got slashed in the face it started because he hit Simon from behind, all of this guys problems are starting by him checking people from behind.

and in other Habs news Carey Price is recalled from Hamilton, and will dress tuesday night vs Ottawa.

...and in other Habs news Carey Price is recalled from Hamilton, and will dress tuesday night vs Ottawa.

I assume he'll get the start on Thurs against Toronto for 2 reasons:

1. Huet has had NO louck against the Leafs in his career.

2. EVERYONE starts their second goalie agaisnt the Leafs it seems.

I think they will start Huet too, for those reasons and Huet is after coming off a loss.

Curious to see how they play the Price card down the stretch. They want him active for sure, and Huet's got the ball as far as I'm concerned but are they gonna call him up everytime Huet needs a break? and does he backup Huet in the playoffs if Hamiltons in it as well?

Nice to know I have a following, especially from someone named big daddy. Congrats that Kovalev is living up to half of his potential this season, certainly took his sweet ass time. If you're going to sit back and argue that what I've said about Kovalev isn't true, you're an idiot.

what i'm arguing is your annoying and obvious biased opinion towards him, you obviously just dont like him at all, but you know what, theres a difference between hating someone but giving credit when credit is due, and just deciding to say completly invalid things about them out of spite, kovalev had a shit year, no one can explain why, you can think samsonov had sometihng to do with it, you can think one media problem leading to another lead to him having zero fun, there could be some personal issue on his mind, you can justifiably say he just was a jackass, but that was last year, you cant call him out on his work ethic based on one shit year, he couldve been much better then he has been all his career, but dont confuse arrogance with bad work ethic, he was a little arrogant in his earlier years and took a while to smarten up, he may still have some of those charactersics in him to this day, but you cant call him out for not working hard, the guy has been a horse this year and deserves credit and wants all the best for his team, and i dont believe in stats providing full evidence that he didnt work hard and didnt care for his tea in his early career either

I'm going to end this here, because this is a topic on the Habs, not you wanting to prove something against me. Am I biased against Kovalev? Its obvious that I am. There are two reasons. First, I have a built in bias against all Habs, seeing as I'm a Leafs fan (although that really doesn't matter). Second, my bias is bigger because Kovalev is one of, if not the most talented players I've ever seen. The guy is a floater and plays with no heart, and that is extremely frustrating to watch. I've never doubted his talent, I've doubted his passion for the game and his wanting to play up to his potential. Ask any semi-informed hockey fan and they'll admit to it. It seems as if he has really turned his problems around this year, and good for him. Its just too bad for his sake that it took him 10+ years in the league to do that.

In the future if you're ever going to attack someone on here, especially someone who has been around the community since before MSH was even formed, try throwing in a couple periods and capital letters.

This is kind of rude for Halak. I know it's an important moment in the season but can't they give him at least a game? He's the guy who did well in the end of last year, remember?

i type so that you can understand what im saying, i dont need to do more than that. anyway, i do agree hes only consistantly playing the closest to his potential now, so anyway, whatever it doesnt matter, your a leafs fan im a habs fan, enough said, haha.

For the record, I believe the 1 game suspension is required because he has had 2 game misconducts and Cambell is yet to hand out further punishment.

You are right my friend, it's an automatic 1 game suspension after being thrown out of two games. CBC also showed his face on the bench after the Kovy hit, he had smoke comming out of his ears, he was for sure after someone, no matter who that person was.

He also had cartoon swirls in his eyes...I think it took a while to get the cobwebs out.

Honestly, it IS refreshing to see Kovalev showing emotion out on the ice. I guess it took Montreal's fans to light the fire.

I agree, even though that his was dirty its good to see Kovalev playing with a bit of a edge this year.

Also Hamirlik may not be in the lineup tonight and Micheal Ryder will be a healthy scratch again tonight.

Partly that...but more than that...he watched old tape of himself and how good he "used to be" and he fired himself up to win FOR the fans.

Is Hamr hurt? He hasn't been playing badly to be sat...IMO

[EDIT] Hamrlik has the flu. He's been sent home. I guess they don't want to risk the flu running through them like it did last year. I wonder if Streit or Dandy will be on "D" tonight.

Wow!!! Kovalev is putting quite a show tonight so far.

Yes he is. ALL the forward lines have had chances so far tonight. But the cream of the crop is definitely 46/14/27. I hope this silences every one who said Pleky didn't have enough skill to play with Kovy. He doesn't look out of place AT ALL. And AK47 is just awesome. Power, speed, a wicked shot. He's a young Kovy in the making. AND we've got his brother who MAY be better than him someday!

Yeah, agree with you on everything, the only thing is I love AK46 but he will never be a magician like Kovy is with the puck but he'll become something great, he has all the tools.
