how much did you size down for your skates?

Recommended Posts

Smack dab between an 11 and an 11.5 in dress shoes. And wouldn't you know it, smack dab between a 9.5 and a 10 in:

  1. CCM Tacks, 2005 Model (E Width)
  2. CCM U+ Series (E Width)
  3. Bauer oneXX Series (EE Width)
  4. Bauer Flexlite Series (D Width!)

So I am buying skates for the first time in four years and I need a little advice. I wore a size D in the supreme line. I am wondering if I can get away with wearing an EE in the new Vapor line? I only ask because I tried on a D and it felt like it would be too tight, even if I chose to bake it. But I dont know how much wider the heel would be in a EE. Breaking in my supremes was a biznitch though....lots of punching out and all of that fun stuff. So would you guys think I was making a good decision in going from a size 10D in a 7000 to a size 10EE in vapors?

Any help would be great. Like I said, I already tried the Ds on and they felt kind of tighter than I remembered my 7000s fitting out of the box (but my 7000 NOW fit like a dream). Also, I skate without socks. My local hockey shop didnt have the 10EE so I need a little help so I can purchase online.

Thanks everyone!

I tried on a friend's 6.5ee vapor x:60 and i recall the heel being a little too wide. Forefoot fit fine though. Hockeymonkey is clearing out their vapor x:60 pro skate stock and I noticed that they have E widths. Perhaps you could try that out and tell us what you find.

Some of you guys must wear your usual shoes quite big. Hockeymass and Stoop, I'm willing to be you have wide feet. Am I right?

I'm in 8EEEE for street shoes, half a size too long and 5D Flexlites, 1/2 size too long. I'm apprently sized for a 4.5EE for skates if there is ever anything in that size...

I wear 9.5 Nike, 8 on classic shoes, 7D on Bauer Vapor X4.0..

I could have gone with 7.5D also, but i like "short" skates without more than 2 cm of room in the toebox..

Shoe size doesn't matter. Put your foot in a Brannock (the thing that sizes your foot) and read the number.

I'm a 13.5L/13.0R foot size and I was in 10.5 Graf 705's for the longest time. I moved up a whole size to 11.5 recently and my feet will never stop thanking me. Plus I don't feel like my skating has changed one bit.

I'm a 10.5 in most shoes, an 11 in anything else that fits and I am a 9.5 in Bauer. I have no idea how some of you guys are 3 or more sizes down from a correctly fitting shoe.

I'm 5'11" 220 pounds, my shoe size is 8 and my skate is 6EE. I'm also Asian so that kinda makes a bit of a factor.

Forgot to add, I wear Nike Lunarglide runners and TotalOne skates.
