Brent Burns pulls "The Datsyuk"

Recommended Posts

I thought it was pretty, but then again I'm biased. Not bad for a 6'5" defenseman or however big he is. Back to back OT game winners.

eh...pretty ugly compared to datsyuk doin it.

Even though Datsyuk goal was better I wouldn't call it ugly, it still was a very nice goal.

FWIW, he's a converted defenseman (played RW in juniors, but whatever). I still think it's pretty slick. Datsyuk's was prettier though, that's for sure. But Burns' got the job done, and as I said nice to see a fellow RH do it :)

It's still a nice dangle, but nothing compared to how silky smooth datsyuk can pull it off. Note datsyuk can really sell the fake shot by going up on one skate and can work off of that 1 skate edge, takes a lot more agility than keeping both feet on the ground.

I still say super nice goal, give credit where credit is due. I didn't realize Burns was actually a converted winger, but it doesn't surprise me that much.

Burns said after the game that he saw Getzlaf do it in a commercial and thought he'd try it, but he was mostly just trying to not fall down.

no one will ever be smoother then datsyuk at doing anything, i think (obviously theres more) but huselius and kovalev are the only two that come to mind that may be able to do it just as smoothly, but i doubt kovalev would ever try

really nice goal...I think of it more of 'The Getzlaf' though, when Dats does his thing as someone mentioned he is on one leg and doesn't slow down nearly as much as Burns and Getzlaf did.

I actually find this type of goal much harder to pull off than the Datsyuk, I don't have the edge control for this one I guess and always end up falling over trying it. I can do a fairly reasonable approximation of the Datsyuk however, it's more about coming in with speed and selling the shot.

I've known for a while he was capable of something like that goal. I was just shocked to see how well he executed it. It wasn't as fancy or as pretty as some goals by other players, but he used a great move and executed it well. He really did a great job selling the fake.

Nice. Kinda clunky seeing a big guy do it, but he did it so props. Personally, I'm so damn sick of the shootout. And I hate that shootout losers get a point. You should never be rewarded anything for losing.

IMo burns would be a better RW though but whatever.

I like him at D. He is the only wild defensman who gets a point now and then. He is a great young dman too. He leads them team in +/- and is only 4 points away from breaking the wilds record for points by a dman. I think they should keep him where he is.

I think he's more valuable at D than RW. At RW he was going to end up as a 3rd liner and at D he can be at least a top 3, if not higher. He's a right-hand shot with a laser and that's priceless for a PP.

I still like Getzlafs the best, his follow through ices it, makes it look sooo silky.

I have to agree, deadly and sooo smooth. Datysuk's wasn't as smooth but was faster and Vokoun REALLY overcommited and misread what was happening. Vokoun's reaction makes Datysuk's look better... but if you put them both going around a pylons(ie Holmqvist), Getzlafs looks better IMO.

Seems to be alot of Holmqvist love from the Tampa supporters... eh? haha goaltenders are always the culprit, unless your name starts with Roberto, Pascal or Martin...

Faked the move against Luongo, went around, and scored:

Doesn't look smooth, but he got the job done.

Koivu's fake on the other hand...money.

What was up with Getzlaf's left leg when he did the move? It looks like it got twisted funny. His move looked like a "rusty" datsyuk to me...
