Your first love... the curve of your choice

Recommended Posts

Broke my last Prostock xn10, back to the drawing board when it comes to curves. Have a few Drurys around but I think they might be a little too open. Vanek is a option im looking at now. Pretty much a bastardized Drury/Lidstrom with a touch of the Modano thrown in is what my xn10s were. Very akward curve to look at but god damn did I love them.

My two favorite curves of my bantam and midget career were the Sherwood Macinnis and I had a Christian- Stevens Pro stock black magic and they could have not been any more different! Macinnis was a deep mid with a touch of toe and the stevens was straight with a slight and I mean slight bend/wedge at the toe! I used to pick my corners so well with those sticks. Now I like the pm9 and the p91a, but if I could find a stick similar to the stevens! I would be in heaven!

i was the kid with the blow torch on the team, so we always had severely modified curves. i remember once during a tournament we used that thing til it ran out of gas, and every single guy on the team was putting the puck over the crossbar from the blue line. i think we were 10. after that, our coach inspected our sticks before the games and made us leave the bananas in the room.

that said, i dont really remember my curve of choice, although i think it was a lindros. about 10 years ago i switched to PM9/P4, but i've been a P91A/P6 user on and off for about 4 years.

I started playing with Titan Forsberg or Selanne curves, moved onto Easton Modano curves (I had no idea how to pick a curve back in the day & he is my favorite player so I went with it ) , tried an Easton Heatley curve (too short for my liking) & am currently using/liking the Easton Sakic curve.

I can't remember what I used when I started (it was 15 years ago), but when I was in high school it was a Easton Shannahan. I remember having a Sherwood Macinnis woodie as a back-up, but rarely used it.

After taking 10 years off, I started playing last year again with a CCM Recchi which transitioned to a Zetterberg which transitioned to a Drury which transitioned to a Lidstrom which transitioned to a Lecavalier and as finally transitioned to a Sakic. Right now I am digging it, but am considering something not as open such as a Easton Heatley, Bauer P29, Warrior Vanek or similar...

What pro curve were you using? I'm almost out of my P31s and I'm having a hard time finding anything else I like.

They were made for Tomas Kloucek, I picked up 6 of them from a Perani's in Ohio.

Every time I start to consider switching to a different curve, my good old Zetterberg pattern of 10+ years now reminds me why I love it: 4 goals tonight. One of every flavor.

Rocket of a slapper to the far side from the top of the circle.

Quick wrister from the top of the circle that went crossbar and in far side.

Redirection goal in front of the net.

Breakaway forehand fake to top shelf backhander.

This blade is so versatile once you learn to use its straightness.

Actually, I prefer a little less hook on my blades.

Actually, I prefer a little less hook on my blades.

Less than the Zetterberg? Or just less in general, such as the blade we're referring to?

I agree! I have a new one85 112 flex with a pm9 that should be on my doorstep tomorrow!

I used to like hooks like Sakic, Afinogenov and Coffey but since I bought a Frolov R8 I think I prefer a slight curve. Or maybe its just the stick itself ahah can't tell.

After a year of searching and dollars spent, I have found that the Drury/Kovalev curve is amazing and my curve of choice, it can literally do it all with this curve but need to work on backhands. Runner up to the Sakic curve btw

Growing up I always wanted to try the brind'amour vic curve but never tried it. The curve just looked so nice, but I always thought that the blade construction looked fragile.

Before switching to using ops my favorite curves were the Sherwood Bourque, and the Titan Forsberg, but I am now switching back and forth between using a pm9, Sherwood Bouchard, and the warrior vanek curve.

Vic blades were all right compared to other retail blades at the time. I loved the profile of the Brind'Amour but the Guerin and Turcotte patterns were awesome.

iginla was my first and only curve for awhile, now i've refined it a bit to mid toe neutral/closed curves

i am using a p92 right now, coz i couldn't find any standard mid toe's for a one95 shaft but nothing beats mid toe closed curves for me
