LegoDoom 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 I'm a graphic artist working on Department of Defense computer based training projects. In other words I slap borders and drop shadows on images of sailors doing all kinds of stupid crap. It sucks, my boss is a nasty self serving psycho and the work is about as boring and unfulfilling as it could possibly be. I'm working at home right now which is nice but I'm getting a little sick of spending 95% of my week in my apartment. I could get you a job (especially if you have any kind of clearance), but I know you just moved.
BruinsFanRI 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 I'm a senior IT security architect/specialist at a fortune 500 company. It's always interesting and the pay is pretty good. That's funny, I'm also in IT security. I do more engineering work though, building & implementing security systems. I agree that it's an interesting field, always something to learn! Pay doesn't exactly suck either. ;)

I could get you a job (especially if you have any kind of clearance), but I know you just moved. I have a Secret level security clearance but the last thing I would want to do is work cut off from the world (unless of course the pay was really high). Thankfully, the contract they got us all clearance for got pulled when all the funding was diverted to Afghanastan/Iraq.
LegoDoom 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 Compartmentalized clearance is a plus, but secret is probably sufficient. It depends where you'd be working, but it definitely doesn't mean you'd be cut off from the world. And your funds were diverted to Afghanastan? That's odd for a project that requires secret clearance. Although the compartmental clearances are the ones that cost a lot of money to investigate.
jay 1 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 This is getting off topic now, but they pulled all of the money the company was supposed to get mid year and the company nearly had to go out of buisiness. We eventually got some of the work back but the powers that be (NETC) decided to leave out the Secret stuff that was part of a particular project since the budget was lower. At least that's the story I got. Could have been an outright lie though.Back on topic, I did design/build the corporate website whcih was a lot of fun... http://www.idsi.com

Shorthanded67 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 Grocery store management. I've been involved in it for about 8 years and I enjoy it. I work early (5am) but usually I'm off no later than 3pm so it allows me to play hockey most evenings. Pays decent enough to allow me to play this sport. duckjob 1 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 I work for home depot as a "Millworks Specialist". Basicly I deal with custom window and door setups for customers. I work with a few cool people, but other wise, I don't enjoy my job much, mostly because I am not paid nearly enough, comparitively(sp?) speaking. I am also a computer science major, so that gives me a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel, knowing I'm not a "lifer".

Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2004 I work at A&P (grocery store). Been there for a year and a 1/2 part time. Love most of my co-workers, lots of hot girls work there, but my manager is a coke-head, and my 2 assistant managers hate everyone. Good pay though, I definatly can't complain getting triple time on holidays that I work, and most importantly its unionized.

Biskitindabaskit 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2004 I work at an ice rink and Im hating it. We have this fat, 65 year old female for a manager. All she does is sit on her fatass while me and my co-workers clean the place ect ect. Im supposed to be just in the pro shop but when this fatass is there you have todo everything. Recently ive not been getting any hours. They called me a me a few mondays ago asking if I could come in Tuesday and I said I would try but I had to take my car to the shop and who knew how long that would take and they were like well just be here when you can. Well they wanted me to be there by 11Am I called and said there is no way Im gonna be there by 11 so they said just be here when you can. Soo arround 2:30 i find out im stuck there untill 7. SO i call and shes all pissed because she had a group coming in and she ended up having to work for once instead of eating and sitting on the computer. Shes sooo lazy she couldnt even drive 5 minutes to come and get me. Ever since then ive not worked I single hour. And its her own damn fault for not sheduling someone to begin with because if I was sheduled I wouldnt have made a appoitment to get my car fixxed. Sorry im just pissed right now. JR I feel you man. Working at a ice rink can suck ass.
