Patty WAH, goalie son in a fight... video link

Recommended Posts

Sorry if it has been posted... I didn't see it.

You have to wait a bit but he eventually just charges down there and starts pummeling the other goalie that doesn't want to go, then proceeds to pick a fight with one of their other players.

Patrick Roy is the best thing that happenned to commercial and profesional hockey, but he's the worst thing that happenned to amateur hockey. He is on the headlines of every french chanel right now but not for the good reasons. He should be suspended for a good amount of games considering he was the one who yelled at his own kid and make him go punch out the other goallie. Giving all sorts of bogus reasons, saying that the other goallie was at his own blue line when he never left his circle. Saying he was yelling at fans when you see him point to his kid to go the other direction. The videos collected at the games will play a huge role in the suspensions. I think Patrick may have received a bit too much pucks to the head.

At the Memorial Cup in Moncton, he was chirping Moncton's goalie pretty hard I guess. All time great goalie, chirping the other teams goalie in junior, classy.

Pretty unnecessary run at the other goaloe, and he kept wailing on him too, even when he obviously didn't want to fight, got up and acted like a hard ass, then when he was actually getting hit back, tries to tangle up and get a ref to break things up.

Gutless.

The skater took a run at him, he pretty much got the better of it, and both of them just gave up. Unless I'm watching a different video here.

I guess Roy sent his son down to try and get Chicoutimi's goalie off his game because they where losing 7-1 when that brawl happened, but whatever Roy was trying to do, it didn't pay off considering they lost 10-1 and he is probably going to get fined even though it is no big deal for him.

This series should turn out to be a great one.

Didn't he say that the other teams goalie was weak and the reason their team would not succeed? I'm pretty sure it was more along those lines, rather than chirping him. And considering Roy was one of the best of all time, I'm pretty sure he knows who has it and who doesn't. The man is cocky/confident and says what's on his mind. I see no harm in that. If you're gonna criticize it because the kid is in junior, well, that kid should be mature enough to handle criticism, especially with aspirations of playing professional. Quebec also won that game, so Roy was right.

Roy's kid looks like an asshole. He skates down and jumps a goalie who clearly doesn't want to fight, then beats on him while he's turtling on the ground. After it's over, he kind of looks at the other goalie, looks around, and then decides just to throw one or two more punches for good measure for absolutely no reason. Definitely a grade A asshole. I hope Chicoutimi runs the hell out of him for the rest of the series.

Pathetic. What I found worse than the fact he pounded on a goalie who wanted nothing to do with fighting, he skated away like he got into a good bout and won with the whole throwing up the #1. That would have been the end for me and I would have been going after him with fists of fury, cheap, or not. Complete douchebaggery.

From a report I've read he was actually fingering the crowd.

Yeah that wasn't the number 1. That was the "bird".

Pretty unclassy, I think a few long suspensions will come of this.

I miss used the term chirp, I meant critisized, but nonetheless your saying that its good for Roy to critisize a goalie who beat him to win the QMJHL title. He was just getting under the guys skin, a tactic to win, their was no benefit to his criticism. Ted Nolan wasn't critisizing Roy's guys saying he wouldn't make the NHL. Junior Coaches shouldn't be saying that a kid's not going to the show.

It's playoffs - we don't know the circumstances in the game at that point (time, score, etc.), but I'd have to say that the other tendy's head might have been in the right place were it, indeed, a tight game (assuming he's the #1).

Think about it - Christ, tight game or not, why risk costing your team/yourself a game or two (pending suspensions) because the other guy wants to go?

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeesus. Roy's kid went cookies on him and I half-expected him to start putting the boots to him. That's what happens when you tell Tommy to get his shinebox.

Let me start this by saying that I have NOT read this entire thread, truth is, I don't even know the exact topic. SRI pointed me to a video of this "altercation". Here are my thoughts about the video I saw:

1) Every single guy on the red team that was on the ice should be banned for life. None of them had any respect for the honor of fighting. Once the guy you are fighting hits the ice, you stop swinging, end of story. At one point in the video I saw, there was one guy pinned up against the boards on the ice, getting haymakers rained on him, with no hope of defending himself. That's just unacceptable.

2) The RED goalie is an ass clown. I'm a firm believer that fighting has a place in the game but, guys like the guys on the red team are a classic example of what most people think of when they think of hockey fights. He invited the other goalie to go, and was declined, and that should have been the end of it.

3) I believe that in a situation like that, as part of the team, the WHITE goalie needs to show that he's part of the team and dance with the other goalie, especially when his team is getting worked. But, at the same time, the red goalie should have respected that if he doesn't want to go, you don't cross the ice and slam him into the cross bar, rip his helmet off, and continue to bring the pain when WHITE clearly turtled.

If I were RED in that situation, I would respect the fact that WHITE didn't want to go. I mean, I'd try as much as possible, but if WHITE isn't gonna dance, I'm not gonna force it.

If I were WHITE in the situation, I would have skated down long before the goalie invited me, especially since every single one of my players were getting their ass kicked. The goalie in WHITE just showed how little he cared about team unity. V A G I N A.

Lastly, it didn't surprise me that the video was in FRENCH, especially after watching all the guys in WHITE try to fight.

Kind of naive and knee-jerk reactions to it, but the comedy is escalated when I thought you were from "Placenta."

It's a mess of a fight but it's junior, it happens.

I don't see how it's naive or knee-jerk. As I said, I firmly believe that fighting belongs in hockey. But, this type of fighting, where people aren't even defending themselves, isn't hockey fighting, that's called bar brawling. A hockey fight is one on one, you punch each other in the face, and one guy falls, or the the linesmen jump in, it's over. If I have a guy pinned up against the boards, and he can't even protect himself, I don't keep on swinging. This isn't the UFC.

As far as the goalies? The RED goalie went way over the line, and the WHITE guy wasn't even willing to step up to the line.
