"Successor" to the XN10?

Recommended Posts

Google Search - Craig's List in CA. They guy listed it as only local pickup, but I offered to pay exta + Shipping. Took the guy about a month to finally get it together and ship it out. I may be getting scammed, but I have a tracking number, so I doubt he would sent a 1.5 lb box, just to scam me out of $50.

LOL. Sweet. I never thought of checking other cities craigslist for gear.

I know this an old thread, but after reading this last year, I finally tracked a TPS RedLite XN10 Whip Flex down and it's on it's way. Should be here by Tuesday. I'm going to pair it up with a One95 Gagne blade.

I hope this is as good as everyone said it is :D

(I tried adding a picture using ImageShack and Photobucket, but I kept getting an error message: You have entered a link to a website that the administrator does not allow links to)

That's a great combo...enjoy!

It's the best standard setup I've used so far... but I haven't paired my AK27 blade with it yet.

Hey guys sorry to pull up an old thread again, but I have a question. A few months back, I was given an XN10 RedLite in the regular flex and I absolutely love it. It's fitted with a focus flex blade and it's the best combo I have ever used. Granted I've never been one to spring on sticks because A) they break and B) I'm broke as a joke, but since I broke my ankle 2 months ago, I've really just been working and vegging out, so now I'm in the market for a new shaft to serve as a back up. Right now I'm looking at an AK27, but is there something better I should be looking for? any input is greatly appreciated.

either way, if I could track down a million of these things I'd snag 'em all.

You know.... I think I still have an XN10 Red Lite somewhere. It'd be used, but if interested I could see if I could find it. Seem to recall it was a stiff flex.

I wouldn't give it away for free, but I think I could make it reasonable (provided you live in the US).

Are you saying they are carrying them for around 70 bucks?

A silly question, I know, but if I paypal'd you would you or somebody else be willing to pick a few up and ship them? Only reason I ask is because I live in Philadelphia haha.

The gold AK is the only one worth looking for.

The gold AK with soft grip was nice, but the clear versions chipped like post-2002 Easton shafts.

+1. My AK has a nice gold/black camo pattern to it now haha.

still an excellent shaft. better than the new black models.

For sure. I bought one of the pro-stock HM ones in a 340 flex, so perfect.

I have a few R9 XN10 shafts and an R8 XN10 shaft. The person who sold them to me said that they were something made for a European pro team. I'm not sure if they were pre or post-Sher=Wood.

I have had them sitting around for at least a month with nowhere to use them. Once the ice goes back in, I could post a review if anyone's interested.

I'd be interested in hearing what you think about them.

Oh, and thanks to JR, my second ever TPS shaft is on the way: Regular flex Redlite XN10. :) It will probably be paired up with a PM9 One95 blade and if that feels too unbalanced, I'll be hunting down old Z-Carbon/S15 blades to pop in it.

Had a TriCore and it was too stiff for my tastes, but I can't wait to try this RL out after all these years of looking for the correct flex. JR, thanks a ton once again. Never met him in person and spoken only briefly on this site before, but he's a great guy.

Scotty, the RLXN10 are amazing shafts. The Tricore and the Z-Bubbles were both awesome, too... but IMO the RLXN10's are a good step up from either of them. I was really surprised at how hard they kick when I first tried one.

BTW, I use a regular flex in the R2XN10 but go up to a stiff flex in the RLXN10.

Are you saying that one is stiffer than the other? Or is it the kickpoint difference that makes you switch flexes as a result?

Willy, used Z-Bubbles a lot and love them as well (have a brand new 2nd gen green one from Ebay that will be here Wednesday), but have wanted an XN10 shaft for a long time. I'm not sure yet if I'd say that I prefer standard shafts, but my favorites have all been standard and I enjoy the blade choices much more. Can't wait to try it out.

Scotty-

I have a one95 p106 blade paired up with my rl xn10 regular flex and a 4 in wooden extension. It feels balanced enough for me.

I would imagine that a 4" wood plug would help to balance out most sticks rather nicely, or at least improve upon them. That's a hefty counterweight. :)

Everyone talks about how well these shafts balance with the old Z-Carbons, so I found a barely used one in my pattern and am working on having it sent here.

Can anyone tell me the shaft shape of the RL XN10? I know the R2 XN10s had the extreme concave shape (which reminds some of aluminum shafts), but I couldn't find anything on the shape/size of the RLs.

IMO the RL shaft feels similar to a one90 shaft.

Most of the standard shafts that I use (z bub, ak's) come with a 3 in wooden plug. My regular flex redlight was cut an inch, so a 4 inch plug was perfect in terms of height.

Do you have wooden plugs in your shafts?

Also are the s15 and s19 blades different from the older z carbs?

Yes, I buy lighter versions of wood plugs and replace the top 2-3" of shaft with them for feel purposes. I also like to contour them into a rounded Cyclone-ish grip shape. Been doing it for years.

If I feel it is too unbalanced, I'll take a drill to the plug real quick and run a couple holes through part of its length to hollow it.
