Buying more of a 'pro stock' stick?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so short story is that I've had my dolomite for almost 1.5 years now using it on and off (ridiculous I know, but it's true). As you can imagine the shaft is about a 65 flex probably, the blade is like mush, and it rattles and creeks like the hull of an old wooden ship every time I use it. I've been waiting for the thing to snap for 6 months now.

Anyways, problem is I simply am in love with the Nik Havelid pattern and can't get away from using it. It's a very slight toe curve with very very minimal loft and a rounded toe. I've looked far and wide but nothing at the retail level really approaches it.

What I'm wondering is if it's at all possible to contact Warrior here and ask if I can buy X amount more of these sticks/blades? I know it's a long shot, but I figured you guys in the industry would know if this sort of thing ever happens. I've though about going the custom route, but it seems my only option would be wood, and that's not really appealing to me.

It is possible to contact them. They can tell you whether they want to sell you a pro's pattern.

If someone here says no, then you won't try. If you try and so does everyone else, Warrior may start a new program to fill the customer demand.

The worst that can happen is they say no.

I'm sure if they do choose to sell you some, you would probably have to buy a bunch. I'm talking probably > 5 sticks.

True enough...I've already tried contacting Warrior but haven't heard back, we shall see I suppose.

I thought about the team store as well, maybe I'll try calling them up and seeing what they can do for me.

if you are strictly looking for Warrior sticks/blades you might be up for a tough task. I was taking a look through getty images and over the past couple of years it looks like he is pretty set on Easton sticks. I also see him with both round and square toes.

I can't remember where and when but I do remember seeing his pro stock blades/sticks for sale somewhere.

Not at all set on warrior, it's just the pattern I'm interested in...but yeah, I've seen him mostly using easton well in the pics I've seen.

my suggestion..

stop using the stick.. so it won't break completely (if warrior doesn't sell you the sticks in that pattern and you have to send it into a company to get customs made). i know you love the stick and the pattern .. but what happens if it breaks? you have nothing to base it off of.. then, you're basically f'd up. unless you know the exact specifications of the curve..

get custom wood or graphite blades made based on the pattern?

I called Warrior some time ago with the very same question and the answer I got was "no" - although this was someone in the pro dept. Best bet is to keep your eye out on eBay or go custom blades as suggested above...

Bingo:

This item didn't sell (and hasn't for a couple of listings). If you are interested, ccntact the seller (The Sports Exchange in British Columbia, Canada - see below) and ask them to buy them right over the phone. I have done this before with them and they were very accomodative - charged me the same as the minimum bid price on eBay....Looks like the squarish toe, however....

amazing...don't know how I missed that, thanks for the link

looks like a different pattern though, the square toe is different for sure but someone mentioned he's goes back and forth.

I'm going to try and get pics up of the one I've got to compare and maybe someone will be able to suggest a similar pattern out there.

just so you know Havelid (last time i checked) cuts the end of the blade off to make it square not really sure why but thats what all his sticks that ive seen have. so if you dont want a square toe make sure you get one that never got to him

Fedorov apparently does that as well.

TPS will also do custom blades (ive seen Chadd's rave reviews ;) )

Never had TPS do customs for me, I use a stock pattern.

I actually contacted Ballistik to inquire about getting custom composite blades made.

Total cost $350 for the mould + 75 dollars a blade with a min 6 order quantity.

Pretty damn expensive if you ask me but if you're intent on getting custom blades be prepared to pay the price.

Their website now says the minimum order is 12... Unless those sticks were going to somehow get me laid in addition to shooting the puck, I'd probably just get used to a new pattern.

Or if you had some buddies that wanted to split the order up...

This is what I did. When I last ordered it was min. order of 6, 60 per blade (plus $350 mold fee). I havnt had the best experience with my blades, for the close to $700 I dropped I wouldnt call myself a very satisfied customer. Unfortunately, in the world of custom composite blades, there are very few options.
