this doesn't account for the random "switches" that a player makes or when a player tries out a different brand, does it?

because i know like.. scott gomez, he used TPS, Warrior, Easton, CCM throughout the season.

and back in 2005-2006 (according to this study http://www.thephysicsofhockey.com/documents/country.pdf).. there was a projected 962 players in the NHL (more than half: 516 players being from Canada).. why are only 733 player accounted for as far as sticks? what about the other 230+ players?

I would suspect there are more than 81 players using Warrior.

Kind of odd to see zero easton woodies out there...and who's using the 8 CCM/RBK woodies? I'm not even aware of a high end CMM/RBK wood stick.

Stumpel, Perreault(sp), Laraque, DiPenta.

Simple math rebukes this study. 23 players to an active roster on 30 teams gives you 690 players. In order for there to be 962 players in the NHL, there would have to be 272 on injured reserve, which isn't realistic.

Even if they are including the total number of players on NHL contracts that are in the minors, my guess would be that the number of 962 would still be wrong (too low). 23 teams to an active roster on 29 teams gives you an additional 667 players. Taking a MAXIMUM of 5% of players NOT on NHL contracts (only contracted to AHL team), that would be 33 players, as well as counting a VERY HIGH 10% injury rate in the NHL (67 players) where players would be on an NHL recall, you still have 570 players left.

That leaves 1260 total players between the NHL and AHL on NHL contracts. Keep in mind there are some players in the ECHL (not many) that are also on NHL contracts.

i am going to use that stat next time an angry hockey parent attacks me because i shorted their kid out of 20 seconds of power play time.

Hmm, interesting...never see CCM/RBK woodies around here, the higher end stuff almost always tends to be NBH or Easton with the odd Sher-Wood around. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

Seems low, but when you watch games you'll see they aren't as prevalent as they were the last few years.

That doesn't mean he'll be using Fury sticks. Plenty of guys sign endorsement deals without being head to toe in the company's product.
