Vapor XXs. Good idea making a skate that light, seems like they forgot about durability though.

Gear C-4. The less said about it, the better.

Hey JR. I've got a few reasons why I don't thing Mission's Pitch idea will last. Here we go:

- Only a small size of the hockey skate market tinkers with things like pitch and radius so that doesn't meet a wide enough market need.

- As a general rule of thumb, the more moving and adjustable parts, the more areas you have for things to go wrong.

- Remember their other big idea with that black bar torsion thingy? That didn't last long either.

I think Mission's merger with Itech will help them as I saw their company and products going down hill.

That's my two cents. Take it for what you feel it's worth :)

Okay, points taken...

However, the reason why people never messed with their pitch is because a) they didn't know any better, B.) it was too expensive/tedious and c) they weren't sure if they'd like it.

Agreed with the second point.

The Drive Shaft works with PU outsoles, not composite - something they discovered after the stiff outsole and holder promoted breakage.

Honestly Mission's products have been on the upside, not the downside. And the merger advantage is the other way around...

I've been skating on PITCH for a couple of weeks and i don't think its bad at all. I still have to get used to the flatter radius coming from CCM Tacks (plus the new skates are half a size bigger anyway). The only beef i have with it is the bolts, they get nicked/stripped wayy to easily.

They put the holes in the blades only to make the skates lighter in weight

you'd be suprised how much weight they actually save

None at all. They cut out maybe 40 grams worth of steel.

As far as changing the pitch is concerned, most people dont do this because A) they dont even know its possible, and B ) its expensive, tedious, and requires someone who knows what they are doing at the respective shop. With mission introducing the pitch, it lets the market become aware of the fact that the skate right out of the box may not be the best for them.

As soon as I get used to my pitch holders at neutral i'll be playing around with the radius during practise.

i was lookin at the s300's, and i use graf so if i had the pitch, the blade would be lowered to the fullest, and when we did that at the store with the guy who works there, we found out that theres not a whole lot of steel left in the holder to keep it in place. i ended up getting graf 625's becuz i was skeptical of the pitch blades breaking on me. they may of worked wonders, but i wasn't willing on gambling on it

Perferated steel. dont like it AT ALL. I'd add a little tiny bit of weight to the skate instead of break steel every two weeks.

Personally, I think the PITCH holders were a great idea. Sure, there aren't that many people who really think about tinkering with something like that, but, for the most part, those people aren't going to be willing to drop $430 on a pair of S500s. However, people who are willing to drop that much money for a pair of skates are usually serious (and skilled) enough to take full advantage of something such as an adjustable pitch. I have actually been looking to buy a set of PITCH holders from somebody who didn't want them, so I could get them put on my XXs, but I haven't had any luck.

You should have raised it to make it more like the pitch of a Cobra, lowering it would have made it completely different.
