test drive done. as soon as I got on the ice I felt a nice breeze blowing over mesh material.

Stats

Edge Sock pro (Portland Pirates)

Size XL

---

me

5' 11" 240 lbs.

---

The socks seem to like the Velcro on my shock doctor compression shorts... for $12 plus $5 shipping not bad. I don't think I will go back to the knit socks unless its an emergency.

You can always sew on velcro-it's cheap and available everywhere.

Yup. That's what i will wind up doing if it stops holding on. I'm just to lazy at the moment

I just got some large practice socks in. They go up to my mid thigh (6' tall). Nice and moderately tight. Sewed in some velcro for attachment.

Anyone know where I could get some pro rbk edge practice socks? I've seen a few pair on ebay, but they're going for crazy prices. Someone on here has to have a hook somewhere... Any help would be appreciated.

Got my son a pair of junior Edge socks online. They fit me better than the senior pair I have. Fit over my Vector shins perfectly and the socks velcro reaches the jock's velcro just fine, although another couple inches would be nicer. Int version would be the best, but I get the feeling the whole line is not doing well, and it will go bye bye soon. We're not trying to complain about length, it's true!

i'm using the retail Senioer size, and velcro'ed on and all it seems fine. i'm 6'0. I do find it roomy though. But i attribute that to my shin pads. I''m looking for thicker shinpads anyhow.

I bought a pair of the retail large Edge socks, and the velcro on the socks detaches from the velcro on my jock every time I sit on the bench. I like the looks of them, but I'll probably go back to knit socks.

Finally got back on the ice after taking the summer off. Tried out my Edge practice socks- they are lighter and slightly cooler, but once I was out there the difference was negligible. Used a traditional garter as I haven't had a chance to sew Velcro on. Definitely more comfortable than the last generation of "mesh" socks. I was using XL+ and they were plenty long enough (I'm 6"2).

Can someone confirm if the socks are supposed to have elastic sewn into the top and bottom openings of the socks? The sets that I own have elastic sewn in, and I am trying to determine if the equipment manager did it or was it done at the factory

NorrisContender, did you ever have a chance to take a picture with your XL's to make a full comparisson between all four types of socks. If not could you post it when you get a chance or if you have could you also post a pic. Thanks,

Just wanted to bring this back up since I got some senior sized EDGE socks today. They're not as big as I was picturing them to be after reading this thread. The fit fine over my shin pads (Synergy 800s) but not quite as tight as I'd like. I think my wool socks might be tighter, but since they stretch easily, its not quite as noticeable when moving around. I wish the ankle was tighter for sure though. It's pretty loose. The socks are definitely long, but the velcro strip is long enough on the inside that I can attach it at the bottom to my jock and take most of the slack out. I'm gonna try them out for the first time tomorrow on the ice. I'm excited to see if they feel any different at speed than my wool socks. If I like them I might have to spring for some pro stock ones.

I'm not a fan of the velcro on the retail ones. I removed mine with a stitch puller...no damage to the socks. Much better IMO.

I just ordered pair of pro edge socks over the weekend and will hopefully be trying them out this week. This thread made me very curious to see what the hype was all about so I decided to hunt down a pair and give it a shot, I'll report back with my thoughts on them.

I'm going to try a pair also of the retails. Got some Nashville dark ones to go with a Blues gold practice jersey and black pants. The gold matched the jersey as did the navy. The grey at the bottom goes with the G3 Supra colors. Gotta be color-matched, lol.
