2k demos are always really bad. Keep in mind that its just a demo. Also, i feel that the nhl 2k series is great after you adjust the settings, and you can pretty much customize all of them. Side note: NHL 2k3 is my favorite game of all time.

With EA? Not sure.

The only problem that I see is that putting gear like the 10k and the ONE95 (and it goes for me as well as EA) is that you don't have guys in it when the season ends. Unless they have a crystal ball and can predict who is going to use it, it'll just be an add-on that the common gamer wouldn't use. Now, by getting all of the gear that is currently in the game as well as the playoff specials (eg. 9500) makes more of an impact, because players have signature looks (eg. Kariya with the Ultra Lite or Naslund with an ONE60)

I see what you mean with that and maybe you can answer this question that has been bugging me ever since games started creating downloadable levels/maps/rosters/etc.. Has 2K or [not sure if you'll know] EA ever thrown around the idea of making downloadable equipment packages? Like come all star break they put the out the 10K and other stuff that has debuted? If that makes sense.

I don't think there's enough of a following. I mean, 2k goes for having every player looking like what they do in real life. You don't see many guys stick with gear after the ASG.

I think 2Ks player models are excellent this year. Graphically, the game is mediocre. In regards to gameplay and aesthetics, I think 2K takes the bill. They've had excellent equipment for the past several years, their customizing is superior, they have real arenas, online leagues and have had customizable soundtracks for sometime now. We're going to have two great games this year.

The fighting in 2k apparently is going to be awesome. Not only do you throw punches, but you must maintain your balance as well, just like in real life. Makes things a whole lot different.

on 360 you have to hit Y button, but dont do it near anyoe and slash them, or you get a penatly.. but Y activates fights..

(ps3) just keep hitting triangle as you're coming out of the zone with the puck. Works every time. You can fight like 3 times per period

Fighting in 09 is supposed to be completely re-done....I've seen trailers and it looks like there are one-punch-pack-a-lunch type KO's, which would be pretty cool (and somewhat realistic). But it's still pretty sad that Blades of Steel for NES still has by far and away the most competitive fighting engine of any hockey game ever made.

I downloaded the 2K demo, didn't really care much for it...but I'm glad there are two hockey offerings, at the very least it really pushes the respective franchises to try and out do each other *cough*Madden*cough*

off topic but I thought the 2k espn football game was way better than madden, and i guess ea thought so too. Rather than improve their game drastically, they just bought out the license. Hopefully this wont happen to hockey games

it's nice for people who want to play AS the old school habs but not great if youre looking for an authentic experience with wood sticks... they got the goal gear in so i don't see why they couldn't man up and add old gloves skates and sticks.. tsk tsk tsk
