"Comic Book" Movies: Info & Rumors

Recommended Posts

Well another possible hurdle for a Sin City sequel is there's a distributor lined-up for a full-length Machete, the movie that Rodriguez made a fake trailer for in Grindhouse.

A little late with news that came out earlier in the week, but Chris Evans will play Captain America.

Then Angela Bassett was announced as playing Amanda Waller in Green Lantern.

I saw the preview for The Losers today. I don't know much about the comic book, but it looks like it will be a fun movie.

I think the movie will come off as just a cool, stylized action flick, but the comic was a step above.

Robotech live action please hit the screen asap!

I remember the cartoon from like 20 years ago, I think that could be pretty good.

I hope they don´t mix Robotech (Super Dimension Fortress Macross; Cavalry Southern Cross; MOSPEADA) with Macross the movie (Do you remember love)

Saw a pic of Destroyer that looked pretty good. There's also a teaser shot I saw from the new Iron Man movie, but this is spoiler-free so I'll leave it out.

I get to screen Iron Man 2 tonight, I can't wait. I'm hoping it'll be all fun and no letdown but it'll be hard to come near the first one, least of all with the expectations most will have.

It's not at Transformers 2 level of crap, but it has a chance of going that way. I'd love for them to get into Stark's character and its flaws more but I don't see that happening. Favreau may have even said it won't, but I can't recall where I read that.

I read the same thing regarding not touching upon the alcoholism, but I can't remember the reasoning for not addressing it. Might have been something about not enough time to fit it into the story while also introducing the other characters.

I hadn't read any reviews, but I knew that some weren't favorable, so I tried to pay attention to its pacing or its level of "sequelitis." The net result is I thought it was just as well done as the first one. There was one scene towards the end between Pepper and Tony over the comm line that was slightly silly because of Pepper's reaction; it probably would have worked fine if they had just cut it after ten seconds. Other than that, I didn't feel it dragged at all.

Overall, a very fun movie.

Casting additions for Captain America: Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan, Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine (inventor of the Super Soldier serum), and Tommy Lee Jones, who was announced two weeks ago, but I still haven't read for what part.

Since we don't have a "Video Game Movie" thread....I figured this could go here:

Interesting Reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise. Speculation that this could be a fan vid.....but, getting Micahel Jai White AND Jeri Ryan to do a fan video seems unlikely.

To me it seems like something viral, maybe for a new MK game. E3 is coming up soon.

Turns out...it is a pitch by a film maker that is being presented to WB for a reboot of the series. Jeri Ryan 'tweeted' that she did it as a favor to him.

I would throw it out on the grounds that they suggest a famous movie star would be able to go undercover. "Hey, you look familiar" "Yeah, I get that a lot".

Pretty cool that they kind of bring it into the real world, seemingly plausible explanations for the characters. I just hope it's not like the last Mortal Kombat movie where the normal mortal human can shoot fireballs at the end.
