Looking for a skate with similar characteristics to flexlite 12

Recommended Posts

I have been debating whether to get a pair of custom flexlite 12's since I have such great sucess with them. Now i'm having second thoughs as to whether I want to spend all that money. Can anyone recommend a skate similar to the characteristics of that skate? Should I stick with the NBH line go with a vapor boot or just go with the customs? Thanks in advance.

Doesnt Bauer make the flexlite line still, and at that, I would figure that whatever the new top of the line is, is probably similar to your flexlite12. I dont know alot about that line and one of the resident guru's will have to chip in...but I believe they still make something close to what you are looking for, so the transition period would be minimal.

Also the new Bauer flexlites that are coming out this year look pretty nice. A few nhl players are wearing them so they should be fairly high end skates as well.

From what I understand the new retail Flexlite 4.0 is equivalent to the FL18, but there is a new Flexlite 4.0 Pro that is a Europe only model but also available as a custom that is equivalent to the FL12.

I could be way off on this, but I'm going to assume the Flexlite 18 has higher specs than my NBH One55s..Both have the LS2 holders though... Who knows? They're for different types of feet though. Flexlites would probably work for me better than other top of the line brand skates.

Since we are talking a Nike product, I hope you don't mind if I piggyback this thread.

I'm looking to replace my Nike Quest 2's. I've tried a few skates, but nothing feels great. I'm looking for a wider toe box w/ a narrow ankle. Mid level skate is fine but willing to go higher, although I only play two or three times a week and weigh about 145. I will not be getting them online, I will be trying them in the shop. What skates should I try?

THX!

I'm sure a FL 4.0 pro is tough to get. May not be worth me getting a custom FL 12 since I dont want to change much from the stock boot, maybe some reinforced eyelets possibly liner change.

Theres alot of European MSHers that no doubt would help you out if you had your heart set on them.

I looked at going Euro for my next pair of Flexlites, the 20 on sale on a Euro site, once you throw in the conversion and shipping your looking at a $800cdn skate. I would quess the FL 4.0 pro would be the same. Cheaper to go Custom or give the retail 4.0 a try.

The previous line of Flexlites had a 18(which was similar to the old 10) and a 22(which was similar to the old 12). The catch was the 22 was only available in Europe.

I think it was the 22, it may have been 20. I don't count in European, I am an AmeriCAN! :P

Hate to highjack the thread but i have a similar problem, really wide feet. I wear a rbk 9k pump right now in ee wide and it fits me fine tell about an inch or so before my toes then its just too narrow, almost like i have duckfeet, really looking at a one95 but i havnt had the chance to try them on yet, think a ee would work? I know the graf 709's are made for me but graf skates are just too heavy, at least with the one95's ill have a nice light stiff skate and ill be able to swap the tounges for grafs to flop without them looking out of place.

Well if the new FL 4.0's are equivalent to the 10's then I may not get those as I dont think the 10's were as stiff as the 12's were. I would probably break them down pretty fast. Guess I have to go customs.

20, why do they only release in Europe?

I was told by someone at Bauer that while the 4.0 Pro was initially European only, there was enough complaints from some of the larger retailers that it will be released this side of the ocean as well. Anyone else hear anything like this?
