Best blade/shaft combo out there ?

Recommended Posts

What do you expect? When the shaft first came out all standard shafts were 48" with a 3" wood plug.

like I wrote: something not shorter than 48" like adam14 implied?

The point is that it's a standard sized shaft. It's not the shortest stick ever, like you implied.

BTW the length on the 09 AK shaft is 51" for senior and 48" + 3" plug for intermediate.

The One95 shafts are at least a couple inches longer than the Warriors or Eastons out there. The only Easton shaft I've ever used that was "longer" was the Synergy II shafts

Seems like a lot of people are liking the Ak27 shaft+blade combo. I've been thinking about picking up the XL version but i need to know how long it will be compared to SR OPSs. I usually put a 4.5 inch plug in my OPSs so would the AK27 XL shaft + AK27 blade be too long(100 flex is a bit too much for me)? I'm sort of stuck between the AK and the one95 OPS and the length would be the selling point for me.

You can add me to the list of satisfied AK27 users. I used the shaft/blade combo for the past few days, very impressed. I prefer it over my pro stock one95 (cept for the Samsonov curve, of course!)

I did notice that the 85 flex is very whippy though. Almost Bauer 77 flex whippy.

have any of you AK users used a wood blade in those? I got one coming here next week at an 85 flex.

Used the original AK with a Montreal woody. I enjoyed the setup. The feel was nice, the shooting was very good (liked it just a little less than my RedLite XN10). It felt a bit blade-heavy since the shaft is light. I liked it enough to buy another AK not long ago. I'm going to try a composite blade this time around, though.

ummm if its blade heavy cus your using a wood blade, put a plug in it.. i think that helps a lot with balancing the blade. im a wood blade guy myself so i always make sure that there is a plug in my stick

I tend to favor the old reliable Z-bubble with a Z-carbon/S15 blade. Averages right around 415 grams total, so you're in very low one-piece weight territory and have a stick that is balanced well.

^^ same here... i think its z bubble is called the s 15 now... correct me if im wrong.. but it feels pretty much the same.. only difference is that s 15 has a square grip and feels alot weaker than the past generations. that shaft with a wooden blade feels pretty good or the focus flex blade (i dont know what they call that anymore.) im still playing with a wood blade cus i didnt really like the lack of feel of composite blade or a one piece. i havent tried the st shaft or the se16 and would love some feed back on those.. and if there is a link to it please post. is the se 16 just the s15 but tapered?? and whats the difference between the st and the s 15. is the st similar to the ultra lite????

I'm really liking my tps r2 xn10 armor shaft with an inno blade in it. Well balanced and very light.

Funny story to show how far along equipment has come. I compared my stick with my buddies ancient easton e-flex shaft paired with some sort of equally as old easton kevlar blade. Is shaft is a solid 6 inches shorter than mine (mine isn't cut at all). Both of my sticks together are still lighter than his one. Now he keeps trying to get me to let him borrow or buy my backup r2. But I'll never sell.... NEVER!

ST shaft is the Ultralite, SE 16 is the shaft corresponding to the stick, as is the blade. It's not a takeoff of the S15, it's directly descended from the Synthesis and synergy. S15 is the Z-bubble, and the focus flex blade is now the S15 blade.

Basically, the SE16 shaft and blade give you the performance and feel of the SE16 OPS (and only 5 grams difference in weights according to the listed data), and the ST and S15 are their own thing.

Ummm any improvements from the generation before interms or s 15 and st or just a graphic and name difference??

yessir

As for the Kovie..its easy to use and I had no problems roofing the puck or passing it. It definitely is a goal scorers pattern, especially from up close.

I'm pretty sure the ST is just a straight up renaming, but I think they made a few tweaks to the s15. I'm not completely sure on that one though, I honestly don't pay too much attention to standard shafts.

The shafts aren't 48" + 3" plug anymore.

I have ordered some custom standard ccm 07 blades and now I am wondering what shaft would be the best. I have narrowed it down to the one95 and the ak27 but I can't just decide. What would you compare these shafts to?

I wouldn't. I loved the AK27 shaft, a close second for me woould be the one90.. Haven't had the chance to get my hands on a one95 shaft yet, maybe this season.

I've never tried them but the one95 feels a lot lighter than the AK27.

I'm using dolomite shafts, but I regret getting them since tapered blades are hard to find and they're also pretty pricey...

I'd agree. I think the new S15 shafts feel like complete crap. The Kevlar feeling is gone and they're now smooth, but there's something else I can't quite pinpoint that makes the shafts feel cheap and weak... hence why I'm trying to find older versions of Easton's shafts to buy.

Just switched from the Z-Bubble and S15 blade combo to a One95 blade in the same shaft. Incredible difference. The stick now feels smoother, better balanced, and more responsive. Amazing what a difference a blade change can make.

If you can get your hands on an RLXN10 shaft that is the best shaft I have ever used. That with a warrior AK27 blade is money.

R2XN10 is better, but that is the best standard shaft I've used.

Easton A/C 7100 + pro Z Carbon.

Holy hell. Those A/C 7100s are pure old school. And I thought my A/G 6000 was old.

+ one on One95 shaft - it produces awesome shots!

I currenty use One95 wood blade, but tried One95 blade as well & it's almost just as good - nothing beats wood for the feel though.

Weight for the One95 shaft is right around 310 grams. Does it really feel THAT heavy?

not sure I understand the relevancy of the question since I didn't say anything about weight?

One95 actually feels light comparing to XXXX for instance since the stick is so well balanced

with a wooden blade the combo feels a bit blade heavy, but I actually prefer it so it's all good
