wait im confused... so your saying the skates that maxim afinogenov are new eastons? Sorry im just a bit confused, and plus i dont think ive seen those skates before

Yes they are. They're the Easton EQ5, which is going to be a high end traditionally constructed skate.

Should be interesting to see how those do at retail, it seems like they've gotten a fair amount of pros in them already.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too. Personally, I think they look better in the darker grey, hopefully Easton sticks with that, Im getting tired of silver and white skates.

It's a hybrid skate.

How traditional? Like Graf traditional?

Non-composite boot traditional. Composite reinforced around the second to sixth eyelets. A simple comparison would be to equate this skate to the one90. Techmesh-like external and no internal counter around the back of the boot.

A hybrid is a mix of two materials or concepts. Like the car, you know.

Actually not the first time it has been used to describe skates.

I saw the EQ5 this week. If you like ONE90s, you will be interested in this skate. The interior ankle padding is not as thick as the ONE75. The skate will be in D and EE widths.

Zetterberg had a new pair of eastons on.

Chris Clark had a similar pair but his were a darker grey similar to the pictures posted.

Green used the new ST also.

I posted these early on in the season. They look similar to what Afinogenov was wearing.

Yes, the Leafs wore those jerseys during the glory years of Ian Turnbull, Pat Boutette, Bob Neely, Rocky Sagniuk, Bill Derlago, Jim Benning, Bob McGill, Fred Boimistruck, Dan Daoust, and Jiri Crha.

Regarding EQ5 fit, I wasn't able to try on my size, so I cannot give an accurate impression.

Interesting, last game I attended McGill they only had the X60 sticks.

Yes they do test the products, a few ex Redmen's now work at Bauer and Bauer is their officiel equipment supplier.

On the other hand, my g/f team (McGill Martlets) is supplied by Sherwood, which is not as cool for them lol

that's intresting b/c no one is in either skate right now and bauer is not allowing them to be worn by anyone they will be worn for the first time in the olympics. i recieved this info first hand from a bauer pro rep.

Dont they have a development plan with the school, joint venture sort of deal? They are like the "test mules" for bauer I thought...which would make sense.

There is a difference between the relationship McGill has with Bauer to test and use product with launching a new skate at the pro level with maximum exposure.

As a McGill alum, they do have a special testing relationship with Bauer. I remember going to a few games when I was up there, before the one95's were released, and they were wearing them at that time. Well before the actual release.
