2009-2010 Gear Sightings

Recommended Posts

Watching the US vs. Swiss game right now and both goalies, Miller and Hiller are using their NHL gear except for specially painted masks.

Also the Swiss team has all black gloves with no names/logos present at all. You can still pick out Bauer 4 rolls due to the patter on the back of them, but the cuff is completely black with no name present. Do you think that is a Swiss thing? Cause if Bauer paid the IOC to have names present on other gear, you'd think it would be ok on any team.

It looks like the logos are taped over.

The IOC has a rule about the logos, they need to be smaller than what they are in the NHL. I'm guessing they taped over the ordinary logos instead of buying all new gloves.

Nike is still in the apparel business so I get the jerseys and socks, but I thought they got out of the equipment business when they sold Bauer off. Did they actually produce the pants for the Olympics or hire another company to do so and then stick the Nike logo on them?

Also, does anyone know if the socks are the same as the Nike Swift socks used in 2006 (other than the lack of lines on the front) or have their been changes to them?

They are an apparel outfitter, they took the IIHF contract with them as it was theirs.

Like I said previously, the pant (shell) is part of the uniform, so, that's why they all are wearing Nike-branded shells.

I know Eagle and TPS have done it before but that glove design makes me cry tears of joy.

Malones stick, gotta had it to Warrior and Easton, I love the Olympic stuff they're making. A great job all around, whatever the reasons may have been for doing it.

I was on the phone with JR when he scored and my first comment was how terrible his gloves were.

Whats the deal with the visors? Are teams telling players they have to wear them or is it the IIHF?

Funny that malkin is back using bauer sticks when he has been using an s19 recently.

That is Semin, not Malkin.

Malkin is wearing 11 for the Olympics.

IIHF regulation, very few guys are old enough that they don't have to wear them.
