Reebok 11K Skates

Recommended Posts

JR, I have no idea how the skate industry works, but being first to market in an industry that is constantly looking for the next big thing seems like a good risk to take. The Bauer skates, which I view as their biggest rival are still months away. That shiny new Reebok is gonna be awfully tempting in a month, knowing you still have like 4 months before you can even touch a One100. I don't know, maybe I'm way off, just thought that is what they might be thinking.

That argument would work except for the X:60 just released as well. Yes the Supreme and Vapor series fit differently, but the people that run out and buy a skate without any sort of knowledge are the exact ones that buy the skates that don't properly.

Here's the breakdown; Reebok has added a new narrow heel fit for all of you who have felt it their skate never fit you right. called: D/AA. problem solved. Lace lock, new tongue, pump, and such are all heel locking elements. show me a skate that has multiple points to keep your foot in place. Bauer? mission? easton? anyone? Buler? CCM at least has that foam on the inside.

Jan 15 IS the retail launch, in a limited release, the rest of the line will launch when Bauer launches.

More price points this year from them (good news!)

11K is MADE IN CANADA, that's why it's pricey

I know a rep. a real rep, not some guy in the stall next to me...

Just get fit properly, not by some guy in a big box store. They'll tell you what your ACTUAL size should be. I wear a size 10.5 shoe, been taken down from a 9.5 skate, to a 9, ..etc...was fitted and I'm in an 8 and loving it.

As long as it has a pump, I don't think it's worth it. If you need the pump for a good fit, then you risk losing that good fit if the pump screws up after the short warranty expires, which has happened to me. If you don't mind risking a good chunk of money on the pump, then fine.

If the skate fits well without using the pump, then the pump is an unnecessary additional weight. I've had it with RBK pumps. Just my 2 cents (and my experience).

add this to brunes reply....i learned some more yesterday about the skates when the rep came in and showed us them...they are now carbon fiber material, and there is actually no fabric on the outside..its actually a bunch of foam and padding squished together to make it extremely light, yet protective... the liner is a tad different as well...the white reebok logo on the skate itself is actually made of the same stuff golf balls are made out of for extra protection...he let me put them on and walk around in them =)..they are extremely comfortable and i seriously wouldnt even need to pressure fit them...he did say they would be marked around $600 depending on the stores...reebok really took the best things of bauer/easton/ccm and through them together in one skate..

p.s - the rep also said there is a 10k skate coming which is almost identical to the 11k and lots cheaper..i believe he said retail would be around $400 for those...so for the people who dont wunna waste $600 on the 11k's then def get the 10k's..theres only a slight difference between the 2 but he didnt really say, but he definately said you wont tell the difference..i hope this helps anyone =)

and also the pump is made for a much better fit...kids growing usually want some growing room, so no matter what skate they get, the kid is going to have some room in the skate..if you pump up the skate it elimnates the excess room and makes the kid feel like he has the perfect fit skate

I don't think there was anyone at the MSH Skate who came away impressed by the 11k, myself included. Sounds like you guys are trying extremely hard to convince members otherwise. Shared tech from CCM (Surlyn exterior) and heel tweaks isn't going to get it done. Too bad their AA is like an A for everyone else.

Brune - limited to Platinum?

Keep in mind I am no longer a buyer in hockey retail - I was a Platinum at my old job. Most of the stores I have spoken to have not seen the line yet.

No, I am not saying that.

I'm just saying that the Surlyn isn't anything new - well, if we want to split hairs, Surlyn has been on Vapor skates since Vapor XX. However, it is a nice touch on CCM and Reebok skates, as it is a shell rather than coated fibers.

I mean, you're starting to take me out of context...hell, every skate is an old skate with a few tweaks.

But there really wasn't anything that stood out from the 11k, there wasn't something that made you go "Wow, that is neat."

yea guys calm the hell down..when i say i know the rep its to let you know im not giving you B.S info and the info is legit...a lot of people want to know what they are buying before they just go out and buy it and a lot of places will give you B.S so you will waste your money at the store...people were asking what the big hype was and i told them...sublitwill, you make think is a "disgrace" but many people love the new technology in these skates

Here's a pic of the skates off the rbk website

From what I can see, it looks like it has the same outer coating as the u+ pro reloaded

I thought we covered that already :)

I wont be buying them, but I think they look really nice. shame about the holder & perforated steel <_<

Nothing wrong with the Koho Excalibur/E-RPL/E-Pro holder, other than constant retightening of steel.

I don't think they're angled forward enough either (I think it's called pitch, correct me if I'm wrong)

What about the easton holders? When I wore the s15's those made me feel like I was standing on my toes.

Hold on, I just took apart my old skates and there's like a plastic piece under the heel to raise the pitch
