Red Wings Stick Room photo

Seems like a few of the racks of sticks, like the #55 box and the #17 box are almost perfectly straight. Do some players get sticks and then curve them personally from absolutely flat?

Never seen a stick stock room before, nearly wet myself with joy! How good would it be to have that at home!

I think i'm develpoing a fetish for sticks :huh:

its a hard angle to tell really, but i agree looks like most of them don't have a lot of curve on their blades.

I know some players do curve their sticks personally all the time, and some from flat, but i don't know if anyone on detroit does this

My guess is, most of the straight ones are a Drury-type curve. When photographed, they look straight (because they are for the most part, just have loft)

Drury curve is the most popular pro player pattern made for NHLers.

And yet Drury doesn't use it.

His old T-flex blades were a slightly deeper heel curve with a square toe. Nice curve but the lie was too high for me.

But that goes for every endorsed player who has a retail pattern named after him.

Would you feel better if we just said Yzerman Pro?

It's just an observation, not a confusion with the terminology.

I would just think that some pros might overlap with their pattern name, if only by coincidence. And the fact that it's the most common pattern in the pros, but the guy who's name we use to describe it uses something entirely different is just a tad ironic.

No not really man. I practice at the joe so Ive seen alot of them.

Datsuyk= high lied smooth mid curve, not very open. Kinda like a deeper heatley with high lie

Franzen=drury

zetterburg=drury

lebda=small p88ish curve

Erickson= Lidstrom-ish, big heel

lidstrom= sakic clone last time i saw??

rafalski= decent toe hook

Leino= some look like iginlas, and then some are massive heels with a big toe. Pretty wierd

Filpula= p88 ish hook, but sometimes has the toe curve rockin

Eaves= sakic clone exactly

Bertuzzi=heel curve, drury thing

abdelkader=drury

this is right off the top of my head so dont kill me if i spelled names wrong

It's not that different and closer than just about any other retail curve from any other manufacturer.

Along the lines of sticks from the red wings locker room...

A few weeks ago when I was in Toronto I went to one of the stores (maybe THR, the one next to goalie heaven) and they showed me a Kris Draper pro stock that someone had a little fun with before the store got it:

What are those things that are red and black with white teeth in the top photo?

Arn't those the TPS loc-jaw shafts?

I'm pretty sure those are the new Graf sticks. I was in the LHS the other day and they had a whole bunch of Graf sticks that all had wild graphics on them including some that had shark teeth painted on the blades. Wonder how good these sticks are?

The Datsyuk Rbk retail curve is NOTHING like the "real" Datsyuk curve. Dats' uses a slight mid-curve, neutral face, and a rounded toe. His blade is also longer than the average retail blade. Probably about 14'' or so.

Also, his Rbk 10K curve is very different than the curves he previously used. His CCM sticks had a deeper mid-toe curve with a narrowing, square toe. The shafts were also about 8 inches shorter. Those CCM curves are closer to the Datsyuk Rbk retail curve.

Not sure about the lies on his sticks. But the 10K seems like a higher lie than his older patterns.

ummm to me you've described the slight difference, round toe and long blade ~shrug~ anyways back on subject

could live in this room forever!

Did you see the Canucks equipment room in their dressing room tour? Now there's a room I could live in. Shelves of skates, helmets, pads, everything. All the gear one would ever need. Sticks are in a different spot, they showed it in last years tour.
