Anyone catch Patrice Cormier's massive elbow to the head of the Quebec Remparts player. The hit is a disgrace to the game. Suspension for sure.

If the kid is a goon and does this kind of BS all the time - then why the hell was he on the WJC team? The NHL may not think twice, but I'd expect more when you're talking about representing your country. Since this kid is an NHL draft pick and under an NHL contract I would like to see the NHL take some kind of disciplinary action as well - not sure what good it would do, but at least it would send a message.

EDIT: I also think that hits like this is why fighting belongs in the game. One of the hurt kids' teammates should have dropped the gloves and made the kid square up. When players lose that fear of being held accountable they do things like this.

I haven't read anything from official news sources, but I've seen on other forums where people are saying the Remparts are pursuing criminal charges.

There was a quote from their trainer which I pasted below. Again, this is from other forums (Sens forum), not official news sources.

He's feeling well given the circumstances. He has a traumatic brain injury, he almost died tonight. Several scans were made to make sure he didn't have anything major to his brain. Good news is that he's got no oedema (accumulation of water in his brain). The shock was so big that the diagnostic places him between a severe concussion and a brain death. He'll stay under observation at the Rouyn Noranda hospital for 48 hours. He has no fractures but his mouth is not looking good and he lost some teeths. He has to pass some other tests tomorrow, for his pelvis and his back.

Mikael is conscious. He spoke with his family. He's in good hands at the hospital. Continue to pray for him, he needs it.

I never saw Stevens do anything that gross. He is no angel but I don't think he would throw a cheap elbow like that.
