NHL's using Easton ST stick with S17 paint job?

Recommended Posts

I was at my local hockey shop this weekend and the owner told me that the Easton ST is the most used easton in the NHL? He said they just paint it with Se16 or S19 graphics. Is there any truth to this?

Don't know about the claim that the ST is the most common easton stick in the nhl. But I can tell you that it is very common for manufacturers to give sticks different paint jobs to advertise their newer sticks.

I've heard this rumor as well. Not that most are the ST, but that there are some of them out there and Easton would rather have their SE and Stealth models visible so they are just re-colored to look like one of the others.

Its probably done with more things than we ever know. I know for a fact, that under the sweater are Bauer and Jofa pads on Ovi and not CCM as you would be made to believe. ;)

He's probably right.

Quite a few STs out there, not a whole lot of S17/S19s out there, there are more than there was last season but it's still not too popular.

Out of the few S17s I have, the Letangs are STs and the Arnotts are true. Out of the pro-stocks I've seen, most are SEs/STs rather than actual SXXs.

Last year a buddy of mine got a David Clarkson pro-stock, S17 paint job, but it was definintely not an S17. Forget if it was an SE or an ST.

Wouldn't know about the ST being the most popular stick though.

I wouldn't think the ST would be the most popular. The one I have feels dead in the blade compared to a s19. Haven't tried a pro-stock SE yet. Trying a one95 next.

Yeah I doubt that most of them are using ST's because pros dont really care about durability obviously and the STs feel is terrible.

I know that a lot of the pros are using Stealth CNT's dressed as S17s. They had a couple Gaborik CNTs at my LHS dressed as 17s.

Any idea as to why?

A lot of guys used the original Synergy OPS. It's a good stick.

So is the ST close to the original Synergy?

On a side note, I saw the new ST this weekend, looks pretty nice, blade looks a lot like the One95, wonder if they made a change?

I'd like to try out that new Chara curve though...

Ditto. Sounds like it's just a round Heatley though. I also hope the curve makes it through the rest of the stick line.

I heard it was going to be a deeper curve, like a closed version of the Sakic? Also, sounded like they were making the Heatley longer, like the new P88. Didn't make much sense to have two practically identical short curves anyway...

It's as close as you're going to get. It doesn't feel far off from the original Synergy, maybe a little lighter and it's 3" longer.

SOmeone on here said the new chara curve was the old yzerman/gaborik curve. I have one of the new st's in a 100 flex zett and it is one tank of a stick. My shots do not come off as hot as when I use my one85 but it will outlast that stick by a considerable amount of time! After a handful of pick up games my 85 has battle scars galore! The st on the other hand looks brand new and I have played much harder with it.
