shoeshine boy 249 Report post Posted February 3, 2010 now that I've let my glove whore-dom out I'm having a problem with storage. I keep my gear on a Wet Gear rack in my finished basement. space is somewhat limited. I'm trying to figure out a way to store them when not in use. there's not a lot of floor space so something like a Shoes Under isn't really an option. I'm looking for some way to maybe hang them on the wall near the rack. I don't really know. I've got about 12 pair. ideas? pictures would be awesome if you have them. number21 3 Report post Posted February 3, 2010 Peg board, like a store display.I got a square plastic pegboard from home depot (probably 18" x 18") and six 8" or 10" peg hooks to hold my gloves. Six pairs are a little crowded, but it works. You can get wood pegboard in whatever size you need too.

scorer75 9 Report post Posted February 3, 2010 Peg board FTW!!!I use peg board in my garage for all my equipment.Peg board allows fresh air to reach your equipment from all sides. You have to change the pegs every 18-24 for gloves as they start to rust, but it's a great solution if you have the wall space. number21 3 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 I never thought of doing my gloves that way, though I would need more room. I hang them by the thumbs (once dry).I might go get a large peg board soon to hang up all my gear like that. My current set up isn't so great.

You can place one pair of gloves on each hook. Its how all the shops around here dispaly gloves.Edit: Oh, and it should help with the rusting hooks part, as most of the moisture will escape from the bottom. yrhmblnr8r 69 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 Why no(t) just get plastic hooks and avoid the rust issue altogether? They should be strong enough to support the weight of a pair of gloves.

It's too hard to tell from an online picture.Plasti-Dip is probably a better solution. Seems like a strip of sock tape would do in a pinch.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Can that be used with a Brush to apply to say a steel surface such as a workbench to make it safe for skates?I would probably pour it on and smooth it out with a flat edge before it sets up. I would think that a brush would leave streaks.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 That stuff is made for coating metal handles on tools, I can't see why it wouldn't work on a table top.

BenderHockey 127 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 I'm starting to create my own 'Pro Shop' if you will, and considering either building a workbench from wood, or just buying something from Home Depot or something.I would try going to an exercise store, see if you can get a large rubber mat for putting under exercise equipment. I'm sure you could find some thin enough, then trim them to shap of your table. Might be a better solution, or not. Just an idea.
epstud74 24 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 This is the reason why I'm looking for a house again after moving back to the Twin Cities from Charlotte, NC 4 years ago. I'm not allowed to store my gear in the condo per my GF's orders so I either keep it in storage (pain in the ass) or in one of my trucks. I don't think it is a good idea anymore to put my gear in the truck because A) it stinks up my truck and B ) I find a lot of ice in my bag and on my shins and gloves. Not a good thing to have. So I'm looking for an acreage with sheds and oversized garages to keep my gear in. Even with a basement and laundry, she will not let me have my sweaty gear in the house. epstud74 24 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Sounds like my situation. Are you allowed to keep your testes, or are they in a jar in the medicine cabinet like mine? :(They're in a jar on the fireplace mantel, so I can look at them and remember the good old days. When she's not happy, we're all not happy. Once I get my acreage, I'll get my ballz back, but in fairness to her, my gear smells like a dirty black lab after a few skates.
