Phew is alright, if you just use it to look at the pics and completely ignore the comments.

Also, people bug out about how immature all the people on Phew are and that's because they are. Most of them are kids and are playing Pee wee and bantam and whatever else. They don't know jack. Taking them seriously is like taking...well...taking kids seriously

Hey boys talk all the ahit u want but I have the skill n swagger to rock theese all whites I don't wear a tinted visor and I block shots when my team needs me. I back up all my teamates and Ill even fight because I love the game. Hate me for sounding "full" of myself but it's my style I'll even Rock white tape on black socks. Whtever man I'm only asking for some solid advice I beleive I came to the right place and one last thing... Fuck phew !!

We gave you advice on the first page, including how to white your stuff out. Now we're just messing with you because 1% of the population is good enough to rock white gear and get away with it.

its a group on facebook.

not sure how you would white out your skates. I don't think spray paint would work very well. Of course, if you don't mind destroyign a pair of nice skates, go for it!

For those asking, PHEW is the facebook group Proclaimed Hockey Equipment Whores. I find it interesting how uneducated the majority of the people over there are on pretty much anything. Anyway, I've always preferred to black out my sticks rather than white out, but to each his own. Just use a lot of clear coat.

Going white has nothing to do with skill. I can't decide if it is only slightly better or worse than going with the mirrored shield.

Painting your skates will only make you cry. They will turn out like complete garbage. You will have to keep repainting them.

oh yes it does. if you suck, you're gonna get trash talked like crazy. if you're putting tons of moves on guys before racking up the points, what the hell are they gonna say? white is a flashy color, you better have the skill to back up all that attention your getting.

The whitest skates I've seen were a pair of graf's that a midget kid wore this past season. He wasn't a standout and never got beaked wearing them which was a little shocking.

I think it when it comes to painting your skates it all depends on how good of a job it is. Like blacking out Vapor XXXX's - some pairs look great, but I played against a couple guys last year that did there's and it looked ridiculous. At least IMO.

Regardless of skill level, you will be mocked.

I really don't understand some of the "appearance/style" mods people do to thier equipment. Ovi is just about the best player in the world and he has some of the worst style mods ever. I don't care how good you are, appearance style on the ice means squat.

That said, good luck with the painting of the skates. Please post pics when you are done. :)

Were they painted or stock white?

White-off-the-shelf is different than white-from-a-can for inviting scorn.

Now that I know what PHEW is, I cant help but think that a few of the people posting these reply comments are coming from that school of thought.

Case in point: having white skates equates to skill level. Either the person writing these comments is between the ages of 12-16 or they are a grown adult who obviously suffers from delusional psychosis.

Someone, please close this topic. It is getting pretty idiotic.

when excessive to the point of risking injury, style is stupid. but if you are well protected and not giving up any protection, why not look good?

its sort of like a universal hockey language for teenagers. white ear loops, laces dangling from pants, maybe nice flop, makes you respectable to an opponent who is also a style whore. obviously there are freaks like the OP and 80% of the guys on PHEW...but if youre, forgive my arrogance, like me, its possible to be sensible AND have good style.

its not fair to say "style is stupid and pointless". okay, so when you go out to dinner, dont you wear decent cloths so you dont look like a bum?

the problem lies in the 80% of freaks i mentioned earlier who seem to want to equate bad style with being..."a bender". if you eliminate the people who think like that, then i think style would be a little more respected.
