mack 44 Report post Posted June 25, 2010 Oh if only England could have choked just a bit more. Oh well, this WC is more enjoyable than I thought it would be.
phonak 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2010 With how England has performed so far, I doubt that very much. If I were in their position, I would rather play England, honestly.England hasn't played bad at all, they've just had a hard time to score. England has been really solid defensively and none of their opponents have had a good chance to score. The only goal they conceded came on a goalkeeper mistake so I don't see any good arguments to why anybody would rather face England than USA. Now when Capello finally got his head out of his ass and started with Defoe up front, I think we're gonna see a different England.Anyways, it's gonna be a great game between England and Germany.SLOVENSKO!!!!!!!Good stuff, congrats! adam14 182 Report post Posted June 25, 2010 Swiss :(oh well they had a good run. Benaglio played so well for them too. eeasily one of the best goalies in the tournament.Spain look very good this year. as do the dutch. Portugal doesnt have me convinced because they rely too heavily on Ronaldo. Haven't seen Brazil play yet. England still look like shit.Congrats to the US i was hoping you guys would go through. raganblink 82 Report post Posted June 26, 2010 I love how the US doesn't have to face a powerhouse until semis. We basically have the easiest route to the finals than anyone.

phonak 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2010 That's what happens when you cant put the ball in the net.. Kinda like England, but USA doesn't have a solid D to rely on.

Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 27, 2010 Despite the goal/no goal...England got Dominated in the second half. Germany was clearly the better team.
daca 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2010 Had it stayed one, definitely would be a bigger deal. It's BS on Fifa. England were outclassed in every way possible and can't complain about the result.
JR Boucicaut 3804 Report post Posted June 27, 2010 Despite the goal/no goal...England got Dominated in the second half. Germany was clearly the better team. But it's not the same as hockey in that aspect - that second goal stands and that is a completely different game going forward - it becomes a chessmatch (and what people don't like about soccer). The goals scored in the second half that doomed England were the results of counterattacks - because England was pressing to tie the game up, and they got burned BADLY. One of the Germany goals resulted from England pressing hard in the box and a block and back the other way.

tro 4 Report post Posted June 27, 2010 Shame on FIFA, forget the camera replay, put a ref/goal judge behind the net. Evolve you old Dinasours!A 2-2 game changes everything, just like JR said, England had to attack and the Germans are so good on the counter, thus a 4-1 game.I like the game GER vs ARG, but I fear the result, I will hold out hope of GER winning, such great ball control and counter attack, but man do the ARG have fire power, that Messi is a freak of Football genius.Lets go Germany!!!!!! Hradsky 1 Report post Posted June 28, 2010 that Messi is a freak of Football genius.I know! As someone who doesn't really follow soccer until the World Cup comes around, I didn't know what all the hype was about this guy. Watched him play for a little bit today and man, nobody could take the ball away! He kind of reminds me of Ovechkin with his style of play, he just somehow makes it happen. Takes well after Maradona, whose exuberance on the sidelines is unmatched as well.
daca 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2010 Maradona is pulling a Mourinho: taking all the pressure off his players by playing the media and anyone else who questions them. So far any doubts lingering from qualifying about player selection are gone, I think he's fielded every outfield player available to him except one defender. flyers10 57 Report post Posted June 28, 2010 Messi hasn't even played exceptionally well yet in this tournament. He's been good but watch some of Barcelona's games and you'll really see what he is capable of. Hopefully he'll show us his full potential in this World Cup. Hradsky 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2010 Been watching YouTube videos of Messi for the last half hour, and I'm in awe. Someone buy me a Messi jersey, stat.Same here, just pulled the trigger on a Messi Argentina jersey & a Barcelona jersey. Also got one of those official Jubilani balls with the 8 panels, because why not? This is the first time in a while that I actually want to do something else other than play hockey! It also kind of hit me that hockey is really one of the, if not THE most expensive sports to play. All this gear + sticks can easily cost you a couple grand a year, especially if you buy all the top-end stuff. Soccer on the other hand, you dish out maybe $350 for the top-of the line cleats, buy a ball, and you can train anywhere you want 24 hours/day. Almost makes me want to go play soccer for a living :PSucks that Argentina is out though, I actually had money riding on them winning the cup...
