That episode was a little over the top with buddha snorting crack, and I take offense to the Gingers being made fun of

Then dont watch it. Simple as that.

The Gingers Do Have Souls kid is a member of MSH? If that was the case, no one would watch South Park because it targets everyone and anyone. Everybody would find offense to something they did. It's a TV show...

So is Abu Talhah whatever the hell it is protected through first amendment rights for threatning Parker and Stone , or is what he is saying able to be considered a terrorist threat?

No that's not me, I love that video though. And I find it funny when they talk about gingers, I just worded my first post in this thread wrong. Should have written that I take offense slightly to the ginger stuff, but they sure do make it funny as hell!!!!!

Edit: accidentally quoted the wrong post

He's covering his ass with the way he says it, but is obviously in favor of it happening.

But is issuing a Fatwah protected speech?

Sure, as long as you can pretend it's part of your religion and not just being an extremist.

Is someone who looks like a homeless Santa Claus really that scary? Grow a pair of balls Comedy Central. Clearly in your eyes the terrorists won.

I wasn't able to watch it last night and they aren't streaming it on Southpark Studios, but not for the usual reason.

And they won't for a while, I'm thinking.

Its been a few years since I took Con Law, but I think this is the case that explains it. But I'm sure there are some lawyers/law students on here who have a better idea than I do.

I'm pretty sure you're correct and that the Brandenburg standard is still going strong today, thanks to the imminent lawful action phrase. In any case though, I'm so tired of these bleeping Muslim extremists. Why can't they have a hobby?

They do, but they can only do it once ;)

It's shitty people using religion as an excuse for being intolerant. And therein lies the problem with all religion, we use it as an excuse for the fact that we, as a species (for the most part), don't like those who differ culturally or spiritually from the regional norm.

Simply put, it's the invocation of a higher power to justify how awful we really are towards each other, so we don't feel bad about ourselves. Imagine having to take responsibility for our actions. Egads!

I mean, after all, it's God's will, right? It's not my fault I want you to die for depicting a prophet, it's just the way it is, because that book over there said so.

It's the same with every religion. So stupid.

Tar, you should read Mere Christianity. I agree some people hide behind their religion to spout terrible things, but without religion we have no basis for morality, and that's a pretty fundamental piece of the puzzle of our existence. And I'm fairly certain most religions wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior (unless you can find some justification of violence in Buddhism for example...I wouldn't hold my breath though).

I don't watch much South Park anymore, but I'm sure they've had their share of death threats.

No, morality is different from religion, but ideally religion would be moral.

I do think that for the most part, a good chunk of people try to lead a moral life, which can be done apart from belonging to a religion.

I'm definitely not saying spiritual people are crazy. I'm saying crazy people use religion to justify the fact that they are immoral and awful people.

It's like me looking at the blade of my hockey stick and blaming it for me missing a wide open net. Simply an excuse. Think of my hockey stick as religion. It's not it's fault for messing up the shot, it's mine.

The problem with religion isn't, for the most part, the idea of religion--it's crazy people who twist it to meet their ends.
