Warrior Franchise Wide vs Narrow

Recommended Posts

I've been seeing a lot NHLers wear the Warrior Franchise gloves this year. Anyone have these gloves? Can anyone explain to me why they have been so popular?

I have not been able to find them at a store. I'm not sure if I would fit a wide or a narrow better? are there gloves that fit like the wide and narrow versions?

I currently use a pair of Bauer Vapor XXXX Pro and I love the fit on those. But I also used to use a pair of Eagle X72 which i also liked.

I"ve seen the Franchise, i'm guessing 'wide', in a retail store.

They were quite wide, but i'm also wondering how narrow is narrow?

The wide Franchise glove fits closer to the X72, a little bigger but close.

The narrow glove fits closer to PPF.

^^^^TBL made a great comparison, I've owned both the narrow and the wide the narrow is surprisingly more snug than the wide.

You really can't go wrong with either. I absolutely love Franchises and would definitely recommend them to anyone to give them a shot.

If you have anymore specific questions feel free to throw em my way.

They are just a really comfortable glove. Not to mention how much fun it is to customize them and add your own personal touch!

I just bought a used pair and the palms are in good shape, but they are dry and hard. I can't imagine my PPFi's ever getting like that. Is there something you guys do to soften the palms up.

And yes I hijacked this thread, but I thought the OP would like to know the palms do not last as long as Eagle's MSH2 palms. :D

For crusty palms I heard to use some shaving cream with Lanolin

I have the XXXX pro's and went to the Franchise gloves... I loved the fit of the XXXX and went with the narrow in the Franchise. Fit is great.

i'm looking into getting a pair of these, but my lhs only has 14" wide fit. it actually felt like it fit pretty snug around my hand, but the blooming cuff was very roomy. i wish i could at least try on a pair of narrows or a regular/wide in 13" to compare, but no dice. relative to the wide/regular fits, how much of a difference in room/width around the hand is there with the narrows? are they also narrower in the cuff? thanks.

Hey guys,

I'm getting custom franchise gloves done and was wondering whether the narrow or wide fit is closer to the TPS R8 Pro(regular fit) glove? What do you think? Thanks

TPS gloves are pretty much huge, I'd go with the wide Franchise

The R8's break in big, so if that's the type of fit you're looking for go with the wide for sure. Narrow really hugs to hand quite a bit more. The wide are .25 inches wider than the narrows across the four rolls, which actually makes quite a bit of difference.

I think bauer 4 rolls fit a bit tighter, just a bit.

I have warrior franchises, and the honest truth is that i like the fit of the 4-rolls better.

My 4 Rolls broke in really big, I was thinking of getting a pair of narrow Warriors. I think it has to do more with palm material than anything. Can anyone speak to which palm material holds its form the best?

BJB is right, the 4-rolls will offer a lot more volume, especially post break-in period.

In my experience, the four rolls break down before the franchises (at least that was the case on my team this last season). I really don't know why though, I'd have to assume it's because the guys on my team didn't take care of their 4-rolls. The reason I say this is because the 4 rolls have a thick nash/clarino palm while the warriors (if you go retail) will have the much thinner micronash palm which should break down quicker I'd think.

Long story short, either glove is good. The franchises in my opinion offer a better feel and better quality, but you'll be paying for it since they are 80-100 more than 4-rolls.

I just ordered some Franchises from hockeymonkey(the "custom" 09 ones". If they don't say wide then are they narrow? Or is there a regular fit as well? Thanks

Typically if they don't say Narrow than they are wide.

True. Unless they come from the Warrior customizer. My custom-ordered narrow's don't say anything on the side guard. No size, no wide/narrow, nothing....

Coming from the Bauer 4 rolls ("14) and using them for almost 2 years. I tried out my one friends warrior franchise gloves (wide) and they fit similar in volume IMO. Then I tried my other friends franchises (narrow) I liked the narrow the better of the two and ended up buying a pair of narrows. But that's just my personal preference. Best glove I've ever worn though, hands down.

I think he was inferring that unless the website says something about the gloves being "narrow" they are assumed to be wide fitting.
