Hey (former/current) TPS stick users...

Recommended Posts

Going with AK27s and Grip Lites, but that's not due to me not having any XN10s around as much as it is me liking Tang more than Kool-Aid.

Let us know if you open a Kool-Aid stand anytime soon.

Another option besides monkey if you want TPS is prostockhockeygear.com, they have a crap ton of R8s in both right in left, that are not really selling, and they're only 90 bucks.

I just received a few R8's from there. Unfortunately they're post-buyout sticks and the balance is not quite as nice as my other R8, but still great for $90 and with the curve I wanted.

I've switched to the One95 OPS. Was using an whipe flex R8/wood blade combo for awhile but got a One95 intermediate on sale and have not looked back. Of course, the stick I choose after being a TPS-weenie is also going the way of the dodo. :(

That is not true from what I have been told.

While Torspo isn't rebadged TPS most of the Torspo equipment is made in the same factories and some of the Torspo guys used to work for TPS hence the similarity.

I've still got a few unused whip R8s I picked up a few years back, but mainly use an R8 tapered shaft + whatever blade I feel like that day.

The only stick I've used lately that made me put the TPS down is a Ballistik .52 Cal. Maybe not as nice of a kick, but I liked the feel a bit better than the R8 OPS/shaft.

Well I am definitely gonna give Base hoockey a shot as soon as I find out when their shaft dimension customization options are available. I've got an email out to their customer service and I'm waiting to hear back. You can't beat that price, those options, and I've heard nothing but good things about them from some very reliable friends. I'm tempted to get the INT 65 flex so that I can throw an oggie in there without losing TOO much flex.

The biggest downside is that I don't live within 6 hours of a Base facility so I can't get my super slo-mo shot geometry or a proper measurement. Granted I know what my 'traditional' easurements should be (Lie 4-5, 52" 70-80 flex), and I don't use em at ALL (Lie 6, 54" 80-90flex after cutting) so I suppose measurement is irrelavant.

On a side-note one of my teammates had an 11k OPS that he let me shoot, and after shooting that, I'm definitely gonna slap an 11k blade on my 6k profeel shaft. Feels great, shoots true, and the datsyuk pattern is a lot of fun.

I just saw a couple of older Red Lite shafts (New, Stiff, not XN10) popped up on ebay for $39.99 each buy-it-now Not my listing, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone here is a fan of those.

The seller is also a grade A cock.

Reg and stiff are too stiff for me anyway in the TPS line. I've gotta cut a minimum of 5" off of all Sr sticks so even my stiffest sticks can't be more than 90 off the rack. Thanks though, and if you see any more RH sticks, shafts or blades feel free to PM me.

I was THIS close to get an XN10 shaft at a decent price but the guy wouldn't sell me the stick without the #@*!ing right handed blade, which was 15 bucks  Oh well at least I can still buy some cheap Adrenalines at that liquidation sports store...

I was toying with the idea of buying one of them... just to try that kind out. Guess not. Thanks for the tip, I certainly wasn't intending to steer anyone in the direction of a bad seller.

Sportchek has R8 Lites on sale for $60 CDN for those in the GTA, its a great price so a quick heads up...might even pick one up if they've got them in Whip and Perry (Frolov?) curve

I doubt these are r8's in all honesty, or at least not the same r8 that was made before TPS was bought out. I have handled them and they just feel much cheaper than the r8's I have used in the past. My memory may not be the greatest however. On another note one of my LHS has a bunch of XN10 tapered shafts. All regular or stiff flex. I believe they were red faded to gray then back to red. Anyone know what shaft I am talking about?

I'm nowhere near a sportchek but from what I've heard recently they are mind-bogglingly overpriced and misinformed. I wouldnt trust em as far as I could throw a goalie, and that's not very far. Hockey monkey has r8 lites for 190ish and r10's for 220.

There's a local hole in the wall place that has interesting stuff, and last time I swung by there they had a bunch of intermediate Adrenalines. Can't remember the price, just wanted to see if that was a decent stick to try and pick one up on the cheap.

Well, not I am really struggling to find a Stick I like after using XN10s and R8s for so long. Tried One95, Se16, Dolo, U+, U+pro, S17, 10K. Nothing is cutting it for me. Think Its time to take a gamble on the T90s? Anyone have some insight? I pretty much exclusively used TPS for the past 6 years.

I think I know what you mean. All of the R8s were Black and white, either 95 regular or 102 stiff flex and the curves were of the recent variety (Frolov, Afino etc.etc.)

I've never seen or heard of anything like this with a red/gray color scheme. Are they a R8XN10 or R9XN10 shaft? Something pro stock?

How much were they asking for 'em?
