Our goalie suspended + top d-man for fighting...

Recommended Posts

Last game we had, our top Defensman got into a pretty nice fight. Landed 3 solid punches to the other guy's face. Our goalie, tried to break it up.

Goalie - 1 game suspension for "Third man in"

Both skaters - 3 game suspension for fighting. Refs gave them both 2 min roughing penalties.

Just curious as to what the penalties for fighting is in the men's leagues you guys play in...

1 game for fighting in our league. At least your players didn't get suspended for fighting each other (which I've sadly seen before).

"Fighting results in an automatic three (3) game suspension. If an instigator can be determined in any fight, the instigator will be immediately suspended from the league, even after the first fight. A second fight is an automatic expulsion from the league."

--From the rules the league management send out before every season.

The first fighting penalty carries a three-game suspension. Any additional fighting penalties during a season will result in immediate removal from the league with no refund. Players removed from the league will be required to gain permission from the disciplinary committee to become eligible for future seasons.

Any player who receives a fighting major will receive a game misconduct, a $25 fine and two-game suspension. A second fighting penalty assessed to the same player on the same team during the 2010-11 Fall/Winter season will result in a four-game suspension and $50 fine. A third fight during the 2010-11 Fall/Winter season assessed to the same player on the same team will result in suspension for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.

Depends on how serious the throw down is... Ive seen everything from a game misconduct to rest of the season.

1 game seems to be the norm though.

1 fight and you're done with the league forever. I have not seen this get carried out, but I haven't seen any real fights aside from some pushing and shoving. I think it's a good rule. It's beer league, no need for a legit bout, but I see nothing wrong with a cage pop or two just to keep dudes in line.

3 games, if the refs actually write it up as a legitimate fight. in the rulebook, if a player drops his gloves and challenged another player to a fight, he gets 3. if they end up going at it, they both get 3. however, it seems that most guys are only getting 5 and a game. for 2nd offence its 5 games. after that its a review.

3 games and $65 fine. you can appeal it for a $100 deposit cheque. if you lose the appeal then the money is donated to charity (so they say)

I tell anybody who wants/tries to fight me in Beer League that I only fight in the parking lot because only cowards fight on ice. Never had one guy take me up on it. Theres a 3 game suspension in my league and I'll be damned if I am going to serve it because some guy is having a hissy because he thought I slashed or tripped him

I thought I was the only guy that said "That's what the parking lot's for".

Nobody has taken you up on it because, for most guys, it stays on the ice and once you leave the ice then it is over. Besides, you don't know what or who anyone will bring into the parking lot with them. You should be happy noone has accepted the offer.

That's because it's a moronic suggestion. Its a friggin beer league for gods sake. Keep it on the ice.

^ This, x1000.

In our league:

**FISTICUFFS**

1st Fight, player receives a major penalty, automatic game misconduct

2nd Fight, minimum two-game suspension.

3rd Fight – automatic season suspension pending review by the League.

THIRD MAN IN: A player who intervenes in an alteration shall receive a game ejection. The League shall review all third man in

penalties to determine if a suspension is warranted. Be advised that fighting penalties do not have to be called for

a player to be assessed a third man in penalty.

I think the thrust of his point was that it doesn't belong on the ice -- fighting, that is. I don't think any of us want to actually go out to the parking lot to fight.

That's fair. Fighting doesn't belong ANYWHERE in beer league. I'm just saying you look like a massive tool when you start talking about "taking this to the parking lot". Talk about begging to be chirped at...

Anyone that acts like an asshole on the ice is an asshole, no matter what he does off the ice.
