What are some good elbow pads?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to get a new set of elbow pads. I have an old pair of bauer elbow pads right now that I have had since I was playing in pee-wee. They are too small and the padding has been wearing down. I like them because I dont even know I'm wearing them when I'm playing. I've been looking around at my LHS and tired on a buch but they all seem too bulky (maybe its all in my mind). I tried my friends supreme ONE35's and I didn't like them that much, I noticed that they were a tad on the bulky side and were really stiff (they were fairly new). Anyone have and recomendations? Not looking to break the bank either. I heard good things about the old school sherwoods 5030 but never tried them on.

I wear the 5030s, I love them. They're ripped a decent amount after about a year but they're great.

Try on a bunch of stuff, see what feels good to you. Narrow it down to a couple and then see what people think of those models. Some people love bigger pads, other like small ones, you have to decide what you like.

I really like my CCM V10's. They fit me well. That's what's most important.

Whats nice about the V10's is they've got 3 straps + the little "sleeve" that you put your arm in. Definitely the most snug elbow pads I've worn.

Whatever fits you well. I always used to use dirt cheap elbow pads, but hated how they'd move around throughout the game and restrict my movement. Eventually splurged on some Bauer Vapor X60s, and they've been awesome.

The CCM U+ pro's are the sickest elbow pads. They aren't to bulky and provide an awesome snug fit for the elbow.

I've been happy with Reebok 10K. At 250 lbs., when I land on my elbow, I want the best protection I can get. I've hit a couple times, didn't even feel it. And the three straps give me a nice fit.

Whatever fits you the best. However, if any variation of Jofa's/RBK pros fit you well, those are the ones to get. Best elbow pads available.

I have been happy with my warrior hitman elbows.

I previously used bauer supreme 30, and bauer 400s and disliked them both.

+1 for the Hitman elbows. Moved up from NBH One55's. These things are very protective, don't budge on my arm and are only $50 bucks (probably less online, bought mine at my LHS)...

I liked the Easton and CCM elbow pads a lot, good strapping systems and didn't obstruct the arm movement. Shame the JOFA/RBK stuff isn't available at retail.

Been using same Jofa/RBK for 10 years. Might be a bit bulky for your taste but they are tanks and very durable. Just picked up some new ones from craigslist. Search craigslist and ebay for them.

It spent 2 hours trying on warrior hitman, hustler and method and vapor 60s against ccm U pros. In the end I found the U pros to be the best fit. excellent elbow hold comfy and much less bulk compared to the warrior series. However, I play rec hockey that can be quite rough but I didn't want an overkill elbow pad that restricted movement the CCM seem to be the best combination of protection and mobility.
