Rec league fees

Recommended Posts

I tried to find a similar previously posted topic but couldn't find one. Apologies if something like this has been posted before.

I captain a rec league ice hockey team in northern California. Our rink is going to have a captain's meeting to plan for our upcoming summer season, and one of the agenda items is "Pricing comparison - adult league fees". Our fees have gone up significantly over the past two seasons, and I'm concerned that they are going to raise our fees again. So, I'd like to do a little advanced research/polling.

Last summer, our rink charged a team fee of $7,300 for 20 games. We are allowed up to 19 players (including goalie) on our roster, but usually not all of these players pay towards our team fee.

So, my questions for all you out there are:

1. How much does your rink charge?

2. For how many games?

3. In what city is your rink located?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

EDIT 2/2: This is for ice hockey.

EDIT 2/3: Our rink just announced they dropped the fee to $7,050 for next summer.

1) $2350 team fee... based on a minimum 12 players, i believe after the minimum roster is finalized each player will pay about $195

2) 16 games

3) located in las vegas, nevada... you can check out our league format www.lasvegasice.com

7300 is a little steep... where are you living??? In NH the average fee is about 3500 and the same in most boston metro area mass teams

Our rink is in a suburb of Sacramento, California and is pretty much the only one in the area.

That could be it, they could be charging a premium since its the only rink out there.. but i could be wrong

$4908.72 for 18 guaranteed games for the summer league (16 reg. + 2 playoff), but we did save $500 by providing an early deposit. I don't remember the exact total for the Winter, but I believe it was around 7000 for 28 games for one of the leagues I play in and just over $6000 for the other - the facility is better for the 7K league and the playoffs can potentially be much longer. I'm in Toronto.

I'm sure there's some of that, but I figure it costs more to run an ice rink in California as well (especially with the warmer temperatures).

Hi from Roseville, CA ;)

That pricing is the reason I haven't played ice hockey in 4 years. I suffer with playing indoor roller (I hate it, but it is better than nothing), and pickup outdoor roller which is still fun.

Things have changed quite a bit in four years, though the cost is higher :)

3600 for 24 games, minimum roster is 12.

Des Moines, ia.

Our league recently switched to non-profit. Previously it was 350 per person for 20 games, unlimited players per team... showed how much league organizers made. As most teams had 16-17

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

4500 for 15 games plus 1 game guaranteed playoff. ( 8 teams in my league). Pretty expensive for us . This is the price for the winter and the summer. We can only have a 15 man roster.

The main argument I have on the fees is if we wanted to rent the ice out it is 285 bucks an hour . Well each team is paying approx 285 bucks per each game they play. It would almost be cheaper for me to book ice 15 1hr ice times and join with another team. The cost would be 4275 for 15 games plus refs ( 50 bucks per 2 refs a game x15games) 750 bucks . SO in total it would be 5025. I could charge both team 3k and make 975 bucks HAHA!! .
