on regards to the Re-Akt helmet and Davis talking about it on TSN.....

2 thoughts: This helmet is a big deal. It is revolutionary. No helmet out there will be like this when it launches.

Why not have your CEO be the first to talk about it in public? If the head of the company believes in it, it probably will be a good fit for you or your kid. Having trying this on, it is something you will HAVE to try on before you buy. It fits really deep, and has a lot of maneuverability length wise. It looks stylish, has the same width as the 4500, but has the venting closer to the 7500/9900s. It will be my new helmet. There is nothing to the matching cage, too. Insanely light combo.

About the goalie helmet, I was told that it was something they were looking for release next Q1 (so 2013 spring). Tech in it was supposed to further minimize shot force on head. So howitzers will deflect away better & the helmet will absorb more of the impact rather then your head.

Sorry, you lost me there. That makes absolutely zero sense.

As opposed to someone who works at Bauer, like a product designer or manager.

Your point still doesn't make any sense, CEO is still an employee of the company, and their bottom line is to make a profit.

But as far as product designers and product managers; since they had a hand in the creative aspect of the product, their angle is almost always about tech, not marketing or how many units they think they will sell. With any of my dealings with PMs (which is the level I mainly deal with in this business), they let the product speak for themselves.

Since none of us know the setting that the clip being shown of Kevin Davis presenting the Re-Akt is from, all that matters is that the helmet now has public exposure on a national level with an introduction of it's major feature.

can bauer patent the RE-AKT "girdle" part that is seperated from the padding? I guess i'm wondering that if it actually makes a huge difference - what can other helmet manufacturers do to compete with it? Or can they just make their own girdle as long as it is a little different?

To follow that, many CEOs have little idea of what goes into the product, they are more direction providers and strategy people. I'd also rather hear from the guy that built the item.

Yes, it is patented. I mean, this isn't the end to be all helmet-wise. I am sure someone will come up with something else, maybe even Bauer.

Having known Kevin Davis over the last five years, I can tell you that the CEO at Bauer has a very good idea of what is going into all the Bauer products.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not slamming the helmet; it adjusts easily and fits well. I actually should have one coming to me pretty soon; there is one potential issue that I see with it and so will be interesting to see how that all works out.

The Bauer shoulder pads the Flyers are sporting in 24/7 are beauties. They look like a combo of the old Supreme 6000's and the new NHL-spec shoulder/bicep pads with the additional foam.

I saw a pair sewn on-close up; the Bauer caps and biceps guards are marked "L" and "R" (for obvious reasons).

Bauer intends to make Nexus #3 in the NHL after Vapor and Supreme. The ClassicONE skaters will all be put into Nexus (and one can say all who don't want a Curv-based boot)
