I don't know if I'd like to see a standardized set, but some teams might want to rethink their helmet number style. I thought the B's numbers looked as good as they could have, but the Flyers' were atrocious. A white number with an orange outline for their roads would look much nicer than the solid black.

Any idea how much the fees are and for each piece equiment/type? Jagr had to black out his Combat sticks and gloves at the IIHF World Championships too. Does this fee apply to the NHL and IIHF by chance? I would believe its a seperate matter.

Not sure if it was 15,000 or 50,000. Im assuming 15K Fee for gloves or stick

Separate.

The mfgr chooses which category they want to be in. For instance, Vaughn pays the NHL fee but doesn't pay the IIHF; that's why their goal pads are logo-less at the Olympics and WCs.

As far as the helmet numbers go, I wouldn't mind it if the NHL standardized a set for all teams to use.

Forgive me for my ignorance here, but manufacturers have to pay money to the NHL to allow their equipment branding to be visible on the ice? I had no idea.

No gear...but a sighting question none the less...what is the patch on the Detroit jersey (about the arm number) say?

BR-RS-SL

Brad McCrimmon, Ruslan Salei, Stefan Liv.

Ah...I figured it was something to do with the Russian team...but couldn't make it out, and couldn't remember which players had a Detroit connection.

You bet. It's the best advertising they can get and the NHL knows this.

Hell, look at us. Constantly talking about what gear pros are using. This doesn't happen unless the manufacturer pays the fees.

They also pay fees to be in the NHL video games. My good buddy at Warrior told me some crazy number.

Ya you may notice only Bauer athletes on the most recent NHL Franchises, which is why Toews' logos were blacked out.

Anyone notice some of the Hawks Bauer gloves had white lettering while others had the usual red?

Ah, now I get why sticks cost $300. I guess I was naive thinking that the NHL wouldn't dip in wherever it could

This has been going on since the early 90s. Back then a few stick companies wouldn't pay the fee. Their names were blacked off their sticks. it can be seen in the old hockey cards of that early 90s year.

They won't have an apx classic bc it's a vapor skate. Supreme is the classic line. When vapor came about it was all about the future of skates and stepping above what we call classic.

They may not call it "classic" but I have seen pro stocks with the same bulid as the T.O. Classics but with the Vapor X60 skin.

Side note: looking for a pic, but was Perry using an S17 today?

His stick has been painted that way for a couple of years now. I think he's probably the only guy left in the league using those graphics.

Didn't Chara use an S15 or at least an S15 paint job last year? I haven't had a chance to see a Bruins game this year yet to see if he still is.
