splitbtw 2 Report post Posted August 15, 2011 My beer league team likes to joke (completely justified) that although I have a good slapshot, I cannot hit the net in a game to save my life.Last week was my favorite slap shot goal after I took the puck in the d zone up the left, made a cut towards center and ripped one while crossing the blue line under the glove and above the left pad. My all-time favorite so far happened in the next game (I alternate between Center and LD depending on the players that show up) where I took a pass from down low on the left side while at the blue line, pump faked and then unloaded top corner, hitting water bottle. It'll easily be my favorite for a while and was the most satisfying goal i have had in a while. So what's your favorite slap shot goal?
Chadd 916 Report post Posted August 15, 2011 I never see my slappers go in, they're (almost) always low and through traffic. I use slappers from the point to create tips, deflections and rebounds. If it happens to go straight in, so be it. If I'm playing forward, I rarely take slappers. My wristers are hard enough to beat most goalies clean if I hit my spot. I did have a nice half-slapper a couple weeks ago that the goalie got a piece of, but it only deflected up and got stuck between the net and the crossbar in the back. Man, Jon Casey didn't have a shot on that. I think it was back 1996 or 1997?Any of the Stamkos/Ovechkin/Kovalchuk one-timers that go bar down are absolutely ridiculous, too. maxamillion 3 Report post Posted August 15, 2011 I had a one timer from just below the dot off a cross Ice feed from the point that went up stairs. It was probably the hardest I've shot a puck and I managed to hit the net. That was a satisfying one.
dsjunior1388 81 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 Playing D, puck bounces out to me on a PP. I go to take a slapshot, but I hit the top of the puck, no power, just a slide towards the net. One of my guys redirects it into the five hole, so the guy's are razzing me about my "pass." Next game a similar situation, except I catch the puck true on my slapshot, beats the goalie but it's just wide. Luckily the same guy was circling the net again and when he redirects it this time he tips it up and the bottle goes flying. Got a little more respect on that one. Scotty 8 Report post Posted August 17, 2011 Favorite slapshot goals I've scored? Hmm... I don't remember a ton of them because I don't take slappers too often, but when I do, they tend to go in.First goal I ever scored was on a slapshot. Rebound off a winger's shot came out hard back into the high slot and I wound up and slapped it right back in. Another one was in OT and we ended up with a power play. We went into a diamond formation with an extra guy in front, so I pulled from my spot at the top of the left circle up to the point to quarterback it. Kept one-touch passing it quickly from my wingers back up to me at the point and the goalie kept leaning and ducking down trying to see where the puck was through the traffic in front. I wound high and was going to fake the slapshot (and pass back to a winger for a one-timer), but my guys in front cleared out just as I noticed the goalie bending WAY down to look under peoples' torsos. Went ahead and leaned into it and went crossbar and in over the goalie's shoulder. Last one I really liked was a Stevie Y-type slapper from the blueline. Time winding down in the period and I took a breakout pass from my defenseman, then as soon as I crossed center, started winding up. Got a ton of load into the shaft and it was one of those shots where as soon as it left the blade, you think, "Man, I really got a LOT into that one." Went high short side over the goalie's shoulder, back bar and down. Best sound ever.

Vinny_R 1 Report post Posted August 17, 2011 I'm an the most offensive D'men on my team so I have my share of one-timers and top shelf goals. The one that I remember the most was in a provincial tournament. It was semi-final and it was tie with 3 minutes remaining. Got the puck from face off and unload one that hit a d-men from the other team that was a total jerk and entered in the net. Winning goal, then we won the final against a much worst team.My favorite goal I scored was a slapper from the blue line that never took off, passed through the legs of the goalie, hit the back of the net and went out of it. The goalie never had the time to go on the butterfly, it was a bomb.
interpathway 9 Report post Posted August 17, 2011 Anything from center ice for me. Goalies are never paying enough attention when you're outside of the zone. At worst they realize it's coming, fumble, and it serves the purpose of a dump-in.
flyers10 57 Report post Posted August 18, 2011 I remember when I was newer to the game and was coming down left side and ripped one far post. Unfortunately I hit the post, but the goalie never had a chance. When I got back to the bench my teammates were like, "where the hell did that come from?!?!". Wasn't able to duplicate anything like it for 10 years.

It was probably the hardest I've shot a puck and I managed to hit the net. That was a satisfying one.I had a nice one-timer the other night from just outside the hash mark. I rarely wind up on them more than to my knee though. Anything from center ice for me. Goalies are never paying enough attention when you're outside of the zone. At worst they realize it's coming, fumble, and it serves the purpose of a dump-in.I love throwing them up high and having them bounce as they get around the goalie. Most beer league goalies aren't smart enough to come out and get them while they're in the air and they wait for them to hit the ice and start bouncing. interpathway 9 Report post Posted August 19, 2011 Yea, a flubber that bumps off the ice ten feet in front of the goalie, I've seen some embarrassed tenders turning around to fish it out of the net.
17D1998 1 Report post Posted August 22, 2011 My last goal was a slap shot from the blue line. A failed attempt at clearing the puck that I one-timed right in the top corner, glove side. Nice goal and all but we found out after the game that the other team's goalie didn't show up so one of their players had to put on goalie equipment... kinda explains why he didn't see the puck coming ahah
Slapshot9123 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2011 Last season I ended up getting the puck around our blue line on the right side (left handed shot) took it on a 3 on 2 slowed up at the blue line and cut to the middle of the ice while my other 2 players skated in towards the net, let a slap shot go glove high as the goalie was moving to his right went in top corner. My coach really stressed cutting to the middle and making the goalie move when you had the chance, working on it actually paid off for me. Another one that seems to sick out in my head was my 2nd year midget minor, we were on the pk and I picked off a stretch pass skated in and let one go from the top of the circle blocker side low. I think that was my only shorthanded goal while playing defense. I rarely let slappers go, being a defenseman unless Im taking a one timer or have a clear lane to tee one up I prefer letting go a quick low snapper from the point through traffic. ibeck 38 Report post Posted August 23, 2011 I'm a dman and I always wanted to score on a clapper. One of those shots where you just step into it and the timing and point of contact is perfect. I finally got that chance , I'm a lefty, faceoff was on the left in zone circle. Puck came back to me, I just looked, loaded up and ripped it in, twine bulging. I was so happy I finally scored on one.
