EASTON V7 StICK

Nothing unusual about it. Easton only has 6 retail patterns at the high end, so picking the 3 most popular retail curves for price point sticks makes sense. Makes more sense for retailers dealing with stock as well.

I guess I would have at least expected a heel curve available to the mid-point stick. My thought is if you are trying to save money you may also be losing money to those who will choose another brand for a heel curve rather than drop $250+.

I hear you, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the other companies follow. Heel curves are just not as popular these days. Here on the East Coast it's hard to find any retail heel curves in stores. Luckily for me my LHS has been able to take care of me for sometime now.

In general I thought that the Gettzlaf/E5 would have been killed off before the Drury/E6. I kow that CMM killed the Ovechkin when the RBZ was released.

So I guess my rant now is that companies are killing off heel curves and the word is that shafts and blades are soon to follow. Whats a person to do other than either $$$ for custom sticks or go with a brand that has your curve. Why not make them available for special order to the shops?

I think it is crazy the price point drops from $210 for the V7 to $110 for the V5

I've heard the $150ish price point doesn't do too well.

Closeouts will fill that gap.

yeah, having your closeouts go to the tier between there seems logical to me, from a business perspective. As for the shafts and blades, the major manufacturers might start weening off this a bit, but i highly doubt it will become a dying breed.

Not too many retailers want to take the risk of stocking shafts and blades, especially when you only sell a few a year. You only end up selling them for less than you paid for them. Why stock something you lose money on. So, we order less, then manufacturers cut models and choices, and soon they are not made.

you will have some online choices i am sure, they just wont be big name manufacturers as much. and yes, finding them in a retail shop will be more and more difficult, but i can understand where they are coming from, I see some retailers with blades sitting around that are at least 3 generations old

Because stock sits around 3 generations, is exactly the reason they will be discontinued in near future. This year I ordered 6 blades, yes 6 total. I'll be lucky to sell them. 10 yrs ago, I ordered 6 of each pattern, left and right, junior and senior, from all the manufacturers. Had a whole wall dedicated to blades. Now, 3 small shelves.

I wonder how much shaft/blade sales differ by region. My LHS in Pittsburgh has always had an extensive stock of blades and shafts. I don't see a lot of backstock sitting around, and they always have the newest models in a variety of curves and flexes. To me that's an indication that shafts move well out of that store.

I moved to Boston recently and all the shops I've been in have very few blades.

i think a lot of shops also move their old stock via ebay etc nowadays too, but i feel we are derailing the thread =)

The LHS near me still have some dated replacement blade models (ex. Easton Synthesis) but the bulk of what they carry now are ABS. Shafts still seem to be quite popular amongst the roller and ball hockey crowd here but ice hockey, not so much.
