Best mid-kick point sticks

Recommended Posts

Most impressive line now, or coming soon?

I'm not sure when they will be coming, but they seem to have a large variety of offerings. I can't really comment on stock levels though. But I know the pattern that I've been looking for just released for the EK15 and will will be new for this year in the T100 as well.

The V series has a mid kick (Vx) and low kick (VxE), where x is a #. The V9, for example, essentially replaced the Mako II, and the V9E replaced the Stealth (RS II) series. So yes, Easton has a mid kick but the whole Velocity line is not mid kick.

The Vx is a low kick like what you'd see in a Covert, Vapor, Reebok K line, What the VxE is, is like an over dramatic, extreme low kick. If I were to compare that sticks flex profile, imagine the blade as my foot, the kickpoint is like...my ankle.

I just went from a Nexus to a Mako2 to a V9. I'd say out of the three I liked the Mako2 the best, then the Nexus, then the v9. The v9 is overly stiff imo, to be fair I havent used it a ton yet and hopefully I'll like it better as I adjust to it....it feels like a TO NXG imo. I loved the Nexus but wish I could get my iginla curve in it without going through MyBauer.

On a side note, in playing pretty competitive men's league my Nexus lasted about 8 months playing 3 days a week (taking multiple shots to the shaft), the Mako2 lasted 3 weeks, and I've used my v9 four times and it already has a significant chip in it.

i've been playing around the last little while with a few different sticks. i prefer the NXG to the Nexus as it kicks harder on my slap shots which i take a lot of (and snaps too). but what i've also learned is each person is different and it's an expensive trial and error to dial in your own stick lol.

v9 broke already. My Nexus lasted 4-5 times longer than both Easton sticks combined. Do yourself a favor and go Bauer.

Keep looking for trade shows at rinks. Saves you a lot of time and money if you can find one.

Hasn't it been debated before that the Elliptical sticks are actually closer to being "mid" kick points, since the elliptical section does not flex?

Would really like to get a real/unbiased answer on this. I've always wondered that too. But the elliptical is definitely marketed as the lower kick stick.

Bumping an old thread because this seems like the best place to ask.

Currently using a Bauer Total One 87flex P88 curve. I have been using the supreme sticks for quite some time as well as the P88 curve. I was looking into getting a new stick in the near future and my shop has some of the Sherwood T90s. I know these are both mid kick point sticks can anyone comment on how the sherwood plays in comparison to a bauer supreme stick.

EDIT: forgot to mention I don't really have a preferred shot. It depends on the situation for me but if I had to choose one it would probably be a wrist shot. I really do like my release with the supreme sticks and my wrist shots.

They are very comparable, they are both similar to a "traditional tapered stick" like a synergy. Not a true mid and not a super low kick point. It should work well for you and your preferences.

I recently picked up a couple Nexus 1000 sticks. Was using TO NXG but busted them. Nexus stick is very similar and i like it alot. The only difference is the TO NXG stick has a different type of grip on it. Nexus is more "matte" finish. Both sticks are fantastic though. Great feel all around. I personally like the blade a little better on the TO NXG, but for the price you can pick Nexus twigs up for these days it's not worth the extra hundo for an NXG IMO.

I've been using the NXG for a long time now, and I love it. That being said, I'm curious to try out the Synergy HTX to see how the hypertune blade feels. I've heard from a few guys that the Tacks stick feels and shoots great too.

I believe the Tacks stick is a lower kickpoint. I skate with a CCM rep and he told me it was very close to a ribcor with a stiffer blade.

After a few games im really missing my TO NXG. The blade just has a better feel to it and i have more power/accuracy with the TONXG. Nexus 100 totally quality stick but the NXG is in it's own league IMO.

Interesting. I thought rbk blades were notorious for being almost too stiff.

I had the same thoughts as you, but I did like the Nexus flex profile except for the spongy feel on the bottom third when passing. So I decided to give the Nexus 8000 a shot, and I'm glad I did, it's awesome. Their little tweak in the flex profile fixed the spongy feel and the stick feels a bit more accurate/solid, plus a bit more power than the 1000 (feels a little stiffer/more responsive). Blade feels great too.

Covert, Vapor and 20K are all extremely low kick sticks and would be compared to the V9E and not the V9.

The covert and vapor do not feel remotely similar in terms of kick point for me
