strosedefence34 175 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 the funny thing about Buzz's collection is more then half of the sticks look brand new and untaped
mack 44 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Knowing he's whittled it down makes me feel even worse. At least he has variety as mine are blocks of the same damn thing.
LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 I, for one, appreciate consistency more than I do variety.
mack 44 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 I'm boring and OCD like that because I can crane my neck into the closet and see them all lined up by make.
LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Psh. You think you're bad? My sticks are identical - same sticks, same flex, same pattern (name blacked-out), cut to the same length, taped and waxed the same way (to the point where I actually mark reference points on the shafts while doing the candy-cane grip-job)...and when I buy new ones (usually in twos or threes), I make sure that the graphics line-up as closely as possible - and usually bring one of my other, older twigs with me as a reference just to make sure that the new ones will fit in with my existing arsenal.God help me if/when I decide that the sticks I'm using need to be sprayed black at the bottoms (Mac Daddies). THAT can be an ordeal....it gets really fun when I switch sticks (say, from Dolomites back to XN10s - in my dreams). The sad thing is that any of the left-over older sticks - whether they're barely used or brand new - will likely never see the inside of a rink ever again (unless I decide I don't like the new ones - in which case they're doomed). Sticks I won't use anymore are usually either given away to friends or damned to use on the street and/or pond.
mack 44 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Damn, I don't do anything to my sticks till I'm going to use them so there are quite a few with UPC stickers still on them. I have a couple Kvashas that I probably won't use but I don't think anyone here will use the gorilla flex.

Hipster 5 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 I love those 1st-generation 709s... gorgeous, gorgeous skates.I wonder if I could make that Varioflex system part of my custom order... heh.Yeah. I wonder why they changed that feature? It gives people different options which is nice with the price of todays gear.
Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Probably because it gives people different options which is bad for companies with the price of today's gear. ;)Varioflex is still available on their high-end figure skates, just not for hockey.I'm slowly convincing myself that Graf is the wrong way to go for custom skates. I may spend the extra money and time to weasel my way into a pair of 8090-esque S9's, or a custom Flexlite or something. I wish my LHS dealt with Mission...
