Ultimate pimp cars

Recommended Posts

i know when the shelby daytona coupe raced in the le mans, it won on account of it's slower bigger engine, which lasted longer than the really small, high revving ferrari engines.

What year was this?

hmmm... i think it was in 64 in GT III, of course i don't know if there were ferraris in GTIII, though i don't know for sure, i saw it a while ago on TV. i know it won at sebring in the GT class that year too

The GT was made to be a Ferrari killer. I think it was something around 300 lbs lighter with a bigger sized engine.

Funny as you only use that as an example. Porsche has won the race 16 times. In fact, they consistently finished in the top 5, behind Ferrari and the GT40 with half as big an engine (and in the class or two below those two cars). The 550 beat all the cars in two classes above what they were in (in the mid to late 50's).

I seem to recall them changing the rules because Porsche was dominating at one point. Wasn't it Watkin's Glen where they finished 1-2-3 and crossed the line "in formation".

Sorry Fedorov but I have little to no respect for Eclipses. They aren't as bad as Mustangs but they are close. All I can seem them as is the cheap used car all the kiddies at my high school get to make themselves look cool.

Also, have you guys seen the 2006 Dodge Charger that will come with 6.0L Hemi? The concept looked pretty good, but I'm not sure I like the look much. I love Dodge and Mopar, but I'm not a fan of bringing back the historic names of 60s and 70s muscle.

Yeah, I can understand what you're saying. I see lots of Eclipses (among other imports) all riced out around here with kids driving them thinking they're the sh*t. Hell, I even see some Mustangs riced out. Today these 2 asian kids in a black eclipse we're trying to mess with me and they had the whole nine yards: big exhaust, rims, wing, and some nasty "tribal" looking graphics on the side, I just shook my head.

But I think it's a good car for me right now and I'm fortunate to have a nice car at 18. When I'm older and have money I'll get something better of course. Heres mine, stock and clean looking...

The new charger is nice, looks a lot like a Magnum though. It's interesting how a lot of these car companies are doing the whole retro thing. GTO, Mustang, Charger... these new cars are all nice but they still don't compare to the original muscle cars.

I'd love to have this GTO right here...

Just drove friend's '92 Audi with V8... amazing car! Four wheel drive... over 300 HP...

BUT this was nothing compared to... he will put it into his garage for the spring and after he's done it, it will have a turbo added to it with electronic engine controller. When he takes that car out of garage it has more than 850HP! Now that's a killer... Too bad it's so heavy a car. But still it'll have 0-100 (KM/H) in under 4.5 seconds with automatic gear box.

This friend of mine has three Finnish champions for tuning engines (horsepowers/liter)... You'll never know what kind of guys you meet at your congregation..

Haha, maybe I just consider my IS to be luxurious compared to the '95 Wrangler that I used to drive. Little bit of a difference there.

LOL, I cant see a turbo adding 550 hp. I cant see a twin turbo adding 550 hp, on the Buggati Veyron, it has 5 tubochargers, they only account for about 200-300 hp at the most. That car (stock) only had about 270 HP. It did have 295 torque though. And the car goes 0-100 in 7.3 seconds (stock). I would love to see this transformation though

It depens on how much boost, turbine size, engine size...

I can see it, just think of the bmw f1 turbo in the mid '80 it was a 1500cc inline 4 cylinders and can reach 1200 hp...

Easily... with V8 engine you can do miracles. This friend of mine got little over 220 HP out of Honda Civic 1.6 engine (before there was advanced electrical engine management and fuel systems).

When you compare these, you'll find out how easily you can get power and torgue out of V8... compared to Honda's 1.6l engine..

It's not just adding turbo.. also engine management system, fuel system, manifolds...

If you have ever overclocked you computer... it's pritty much same thing with cars.. you just try to get few extra HP what ever it takes ;)

You don't make 850 HP on an audi V8 without a big turbo(s), a built motor, and race gas, period. It's not like he's just going to slap some shit on his stock car and make 850 all day every day on 87 octane, and knock down 400000 MPG.
