stick handling practice ball

Recommended Posts

hi there,

I was at my LHS the other day and I noticed that they have this small ball that is meant to improve stick-handling. It is definitely a dry-land training item. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get one at a decent price (my store wanted $30, with a "tips" CD - Lecavilier was on the packaging).

They smaller than the regular orange hockey balls and larger than a golf ball. They also seem to have a couple of small holes in them but I'm not sure if that is by design or for manufacturing purposes. They seem to be made of rubber.

I just want to get the ball so that I can practice indoors. Anyone see one on the net or eBay? Thanks.

BTW, the CD's that they come with are useless. My friend and I watched one he got and were laughing at the guy demonstrating shooting "technique." It was classic.

The ones with Vinny Lecav aren't bad

$9.99 for the ball only, $13.99 of the mini CD, and $17.99 for the full size CD package.

The SH balls are very good, match the weight and feel, slide and bounce and contact height of the puck. No better dry land training aid IMO. I've sold hundreds of them, no complaints. Except of coursae, the dark colored ones get lost in the leaves and back yard easy. Go with lime green or yellow.

Anybody know where I can get one in Scarborough/Markham?

eBay has them for $15 USD shipped. No tax, but I wonder if I can get it cheaper locally.

Thanks.

Try and buy the ball only, forget the CD.

Damn it's late.

for shizzle. I bought a ball from Hawk Hockey(hockeymonkey.com) for $9 US, I belive they also had the ones with the CD's. Its a nice tool, I use it on carpet in my room, outside on concrete, whereever.

I kind of like that series, the drills are fun, and I've noticed a difference in my stickhandling although I haven't pulled off the "Jagr" move with any consistency yet.

Get the goal scoring drills CD. EVERY goal that was scored that I saw in the NCAA mens tourney so far (the northeast and east divisions) was practiced in one form or another. The guys at smart hockey know thier stuff. It may be overpriced, but it's what you gotta pay if you want to get better. All the tips during the drills are really great too. Great insight about deking on breakaways and stuff. Combine the goal scoring stuff for 21 days after forming a stickhandling schedule using Sean Skinner's off ice tape, you'll be dangling and netting it in no time.
