Bottom line it's all personal preference. Use something you can control your shot with and has a good enough size on it to get in the way of pucks. I've played with guys who use wedges bigger than mine and guys who used huge toe curves. It just keeps coming back to what you're comfortable with.

Ok here is my opinion on this....

If you're playing D you obviously want to have a good slapshot. Whether low or high I feel it's a necessity to be able to take one.

I find that the Lidstrom (Easton) and LaCavalier (CCM) are both excellent blades for quick rising, hard slapshots. Also, they both are LONG blades with SQUARE toes which make the blades good for poke checking and scooping the puck off of the boards.

Another good blade would be Bonk (CCM). Good for low slappers.

HOWEVER, If you're not digging the open face of the Lidstrom or LaCavalier you can try a Recchi. I find it to be a good, all around blade for slapshots, wrist shots and stick handling.

Hope this helped.

Less curve always works better for me, easier to clear the puck on the backhand. Add a little loft and you can toss it off the glass and out of the zone if you're under pressure.

Anything with a long blade and square toe. The curve is a pp. Thats my take, but you should get a curve you can work with that isn't crazy (like the Yzerman). Remember it's a PP.

too bad you are righty kovalchuk.........

You sure he is? In the photos he posted he's shooting left handed.

(unless the photos were flipped)

Although I've recently discovered the wonderful world of the Drury curve....for a defenseman I would have to agree with the Lidstrom being overall the best. I used to be a strictly Lidstrom guy, but then my coach started playing me as our "all-around" guy and I just couldn't use the Lidstrom playing forward for some reason. But on "D" it was my baby!

If you're a lefty, I've got some LaCavalier blades (used) lying around that I can send you for free.

Just pay shipping.

I might be able take them off your hands :) What kind of blades we talkin here?

I have been playing D for awhile now, and I find lidstrom way too much for low shots from the point. I really like the bauer p106. It is kinda of a toned down drury imo.

B/c they're used ;)

I use them outdoors for roller. So once a blade gets to a certain point, I don't use it anymore.

Theres still a good 75-80% left on the blades
