ul are more durable, bubbles have a lower kickpoint, which is supposed to mean better performance. bubbles are the only easton shaft i can use

UL as they are one dimension from top to bottom whereas the ZB is tapered then flares out to accept reg. size blade. I got one (ZB) a coupla weeks ago but haven't tried it yet. I think I want my UL back (sold it) :( .

The UL; especially the old one with the Kevlar weave. No matter what kind of blade you put in it (Innovative, Easton Focus Flex, wood, etc.), you can always rely on the UL to get the job done.

no question about it!

the UL was my first stick ever (that i actually used for real hockey) and i loved it. the one i liked was the original one, not the newer versions. I used that green kevlar blade with a shanahan curve... best ever

i know some would say UL for durabillity and Zbubble for performance...

well i'm playing with a z-bubble(now as back-up) for 1 year(the 2003 model) and it was the best balanced shaft i never used(comparable to my R2XN10) and it still hold up pretty well

i play 4 time(1h 30) by week in a contact league...with a lot of boom and slash!

Maybe i'm a exception but for me the Z-bubble is the stick who lasted me the longest...and it is still alive!

UL....had three of them (the old ones...maybe 99 or 00 model? ) they carried me through two seasons while the Z-Bubble I had broke on my first warm-up taking slappers.....right through at the tapered zone.....got it replaced but sold the replacement after a week or so. Use an UL with a focus flex blade and will give you basically the same results performance wise as the Z-Bubble.

UL hands down the stick is a tank and i kno because i like to hack lol. Also it is a good weight making it feel very balanced with almost any light blade and it is very good for shooting.

The Z-bubble, Much lighter, better for stickhandling and find my shot to be zippier, The UL is more durable. so basically... durability and versatility I would go with an Ultra Lite. for performance....Z-Bubble. I really do find the performance alot better with the Bubble, and I used to swear by the UL.

Ahhh, the memories of the good old Corebeam debates over these two...

I have used both, and broken both, and used both wood and composite with both, and I've used other standard shafts and true tapered shafts, and I think the ZBubble just feels too strange, unlike a standard and unlike a tapered. I also like slightly heavier shafts, so I would recommend the UL over the ZBub anyday. The UL has good feel that you quickly forget about and just play the game as if the stick was another part of yoru body, whereas with some top end sticks I've tried I am costantly aware of the feel of the stick, but maybe that's just me...

Are you serious?! Is it cut in half or something?

Anyhow, I'm a fan of a good ol' fashioned standard shaft. I am also a fan of good ol' nelly (woods). I feel that a decent standard shaft/blade combo (if light/balanced, and the right flex for you) should give the same results with less weight and more durability than a wood stick.

However, the z-bubble does have that taper taht should add a bit to your shots.

I've got a griplite and z-bubble grip. I like the z-bubble for it's lightweight and shot performance, but I like stickhandling w/ my grip lite better at times.

I've never broken either shaft, but I hear z-bubbles are pretty bad for durability.........here on MSH and elsewhere.

i think the best old shaft is the griplite with like the light green color. those were the greatest.

the ultralites were ok to, are the new ultralites any were close to the old ones???

I'd go with the Ultra Lite as well. I have two Red Lite XN10s now and sometimes they feel a little unbalanced. The Ultra Lites overall just had a great feel to them no matter what blade you'd use.
