I've fallen when hopping the boards once. I tried to hop over on the door, and our back up goalie was opening it at the same time. Man, it was funny. My buddies couldn't stop laughing at me ever since.

One time I was skating to my bench, and I was was going through the door I thought I had cleared the small lip and stepped over it............. but I was sadly mistaken, and I fell flat on my face into our bench. And of course it was that rare moment when just about everybody happened to look that way.

Someone on my h.s. team was behind the net fighting for the puck, and somehow (I have no idea how it happened), got one of the straps from his facemask caught in the net, so he was bent over with his head all tangled up in the net trying to jerk it loose and the ref wouldn't stop the play. It was hilarious to watch.

It might have been in the same game we had a screw up on one of our line changes so that we had six on the ice, so a kid (who never seemed hesitant to do something that could seriously hurt him or someone else) skated full speed from the other side of the ice, did a superman dive right over the boards without slowing up at all, and totally took out our back-up goalie. I was on the ice laughing so hard i could barely concentrate on the play.

OK, thought of two more for you guys.

After playing for 3-4 months, my friends dad convinced me to play on his intermediate level team at the rink by my house. its the second highest level here out of four. every once in a while i would do something good, but for the most part i would feel pretty weak at that level. one time, a bunch of people came off and i wasn't paying enough attention, so i go over the boards, skate to the guy at the point right as he winds up for a one timer, lift his stick up from behind right before he makes contact with the puck. so i stop a shot from a good player and i'm feeling good, then i look around and realize i'm the 6th guy on the ice. skate directly back to the bench, jump over, and slouch behind somebody to hide for a second. ref's never called it :]

this one is a little better and happened last night. i'm playing D and i'm trying to hold it in at their blue line. somebody carries it towards me and flips it up to clear their zone from pretty close by. so i try to knock it down but i'm a little too slow. and my glove somehow gets thrown up in the air. and it somehow goes in between the glass and the netting. i managed to throw my glove out of the rink, to the back part where they keep all the cones and crap like that :x

the score keeper decided to be nice and get it for me though.

A few years back our peewee team went to the joe louis arena to play in between the red wings game and in the shootout a kid on my team went down and wound up for a slap shot and totally whiffed and fell right on his butt

:P funniest thing ever!!

thats funny.

i was watching a roller game 1 time and a guy did a cool move where he threw his glove down, wich caught the goalies attention, the scored.

the goalie didnt like this so he took the glove and threw it behind him. it ended up sticking in the rafter at the building, a guy had to climb up and get it for the kid

Okay, I have to get this out before I go to bed. Thought I would put it here instead of starting a new thread.

Tonight my team played it's semifinal game in the Playoffs (It's intermediate level beer league). Great game, tied 1-1, went to double overtime and then a shootout. I had an opportunity to score during the OT off the face-off, but shot wide.

So, we do a 4 shooter shootout. After 4 shooters, it is tied at 1. I am the fifth shooter.

I skate down towards the right side of the goal with some speed, I make a move to fake a deke right on my backhand and then go back to my forehand, but the puck hits some snow and just stops. I end up overskating the puck and spin around backwards, the puck between my legs, and then try to backhand the puck to the net....but basically fan because of the awkward position I am in at the side of the goal. The other team erupts in laughter -- prob thinking I am trying to pull off some trick move and just look like an idiot (which either way I must have). One of the most embarrassing moments I have had on the ice since I was a kid. And it was so frustrating because it felt so completely out of my control.

We end up losing the shootout, and are out of the playoffs.

I wish I had just skated down and rifled the puck al la Mike Richards, but I didn't know the ice was that bad as none of the previous shooters had said anything. I feel like I blew it and really made an ass of myself. Okay, I'm done.

flyerman... done that before, fanned many a time during a breakaway or penalty shot, which is why I try to keep it as simple as possible now, quick snap shot.

Most embarassing? Playing with the hometown boys (go back about twice a year), had to use my really old gear from years back cause I didnt bring my current gear back home with me. Had an old jock to hold the cup, it was clean but basically didnt have any more elastic in it. Played a couple minutes and got a breakaway, sprinting down towards the goal and heard someone shout 'hey, stop leaving booby traps along the way' ... looked back and saw that the cup had fallen out of the jock... didnt go down well with the girls that were playing as well... ;)

I've embarassed myself a few times this past season. Lost an edge turning backwards over my blue line and went straight onto my back. I'm 6'4 so I went down with a thud :P I had an altercation with one of the other players earlier in the game, resulting in him being throw off. You can bet he gave it to me with his mates when that happened.

Also, on a line change I wentto jump the boards but just as I did it the puck came and a teammate who was coming off played it. So I tried to keep myself back on the bench and ended up sort of falling onto the ice with my legs doing the splits over the boards... my groin thanked me later.

getting on the ice with your soakers on...

This, and it took me atleast three falls to realize why it was happening. In my defense, it was the first time I was ever on the ice.

Another embarrassing moment for me was skating towards the face off circle, I turn around to get into position and fell forward, as I went towards the ice, my hands slipped out from under me and I landed cage first. The ref stopped the game to come over and make sure I was OK. That was hell.

Last year I was playing pickup roller and there were no goales (they were getting ready). I got a pass for a breakaway but it was in my skates. I could hear a guy coming behind me. I finally get the puck out of my skates but now the puck is rolling. I' m looking down to get control and as I get control, my chest hits the crossbar. The goal goes crashing into the boards. Everyone is around me, concerned, asking if I'm alright. I was fine except I was really embarassed. Then came the laughter and snide remarks.

Since then, "Keep your head up" has taken a greater meaning for me.

A few games ago I was going to change, as I'm heading to the bench one of my teammates getting on is coming straight at me, we both move to get out of the way...but we both go the same direction, and collide head on into each other. Both of us ended up on our asses. And of course, that was the game some of my friends picked to come to. I heard about that later on.

How about I give a guy a pass for the empty net (its a 2 on 0) and he skates it all the way in and then fumbles it a bit and rips it hard off the side of the net (the pipe along the ice, so it makes a nice clank). Then blames me for a bad pass

Playing in our highest men's league here (which is still nothing special). Last game of my first season playing in the real league for me. Pick a pass from d-2-d skate in all alone, and rifle a shot over the blocker. Skate behind the net(celebrating of course), catch an edge, and fall on my ass, which ended up with my glove and stick flying through the air. That would be tops for me.

mine was. i was on a 2-0 with my highschool teams leading scorer and hes the most selffish player on the team. well at the red line he descides to pass to me. i was unexpected of it. my thought was to drive to the net and get the rebound. since i had no goals the whole season. i take it in. puck was on its edge i settle it down at the hash marks and rip a shot. onlything i got that day was a nice ring of the post and a whip out behind the net trying to get the puck back. That day i learn that defensive defencemen like should never join a 2-0

After losing a men's league game (very badly) I went to leave the ice. I was carrying my two sticks the team water bottles and a towel. As I stepped through the door going off the ice the water bottles slipped and as I grabbed them my sticks turned parallel to the ice. My sticks hit the boards and I basically knocked myself back onto on my back. Meanwhile all the players for the next games were right there to see the whole thing.

I had the same thing happen to me. At first I wanted to just shoot, then I thought "OK get fancy, deke him." Tried to do the same thing, go backhand-forehand, shoot it glove side. I try to go to my backhand, and the puck stops because of the snow. I turn and try to backhand it through my legs hoping it'll go five hole. Losing the puck's embarrassing enough, but on top of that the goalie slid out to stop the puck, so he takes my legs clean out from under me. I do a backwards superman impression right onto the ice and into the boards. Goalie asked if I was OK. I was, but my ego was severely crushed. This was only a game for fun, but it was still probably the most embarrassing thing I've had happen to me on the ice.

Back in bantam aa a few years ago, we lost 6-4 and i had scored all 4 goals, i was super excited on my hatrick i celebrated showing off to a chippy team that was on my ass all game, i fell and tried to get an edge but for some reason i just kept sliding, got up and lost an edge. Second year bantam i was carrying the puck in with my pants which were too big for me, it was just me just got by the d and my pants dropped.

I was marking a man in the crease and my D partner was battling for the puck in the corner. He gets body position on the forward and as he goes to rim the puck around the boards, it flips up on edge... so instead of going around the boards, he rips the puck right off my visor and it bounces over the goalie's shoulder into the net.
