  1. Seems like you should have some ground to stand on. I'd go back to the shop and talk to whoever is there. If they don't fix it, I'd escalate it to the manager/owner and go from there.
  2. Weird. Did they happen to review the order with you on the screen of the 3d Scanner?
  3. Sounds a little fishy about the advanced facing. It's on option in their catalog and in the scanner that you can do 1/4 or 1/2 forward or 1/4 inward. Was this a pro custom order, or a 3d scan total custom? Are you getting lacebite or discomfort from the depth/volume? Have you talked to the LHS/CCM about it?
  4. I just ordered some Sunday from North Georgia Hockey in Atlanta/Alpharetta. I was pretty impressed with the guys at the shop. Hopefully in 3-4 weeks I can post some actual feedback on how they turned out, but until then I'll just have to say the entire fitting process is pretty impressive. Here is a catalog of all the options (Compliments of Nicholas G). The only option I think I had that wasn't listed in there was the lacelock.
  5. I ended up ordering some Custom AS1s this weekend. Did the CCM scan and Bauer volumental scan at North Georgia Hockey in Alpharetta/Atlanta. I'm about 3.5 hours away in Huntsville, AL but they're the closest place that does custom skates and I was passing through Atlanta anyway. Geoff and Alex are solid guys and I'd definitely recommend stopping by the shop if you're in the area. Hopefully I'm not putting the cart before the horse on this, but I've struggled to get good fitting skates. I have an E width forefoot and a regular/narrow heel with high arches and a really high ankle depth. Nexus has been the closest to a good fit, but it's still too loose in the and just not a great fit all around. The new tacks line was a pretty good fit, but not enough volume and the toecap was a little narrow (my whole foot/toes are shaped like a V), Jetspeeds in a EE width were the same deal, but failed the pencil test even more. Supremes just feel terrible, especially in the toe cap. Custom skates ended up being being AS1 10D +1/2 facing (though even with that it's still barely enough volume), Donut ankle pad Forefoot comfort pad Oversized toe cap +3mm Enhanced comfort pad 7mm Tritech Pro Ribbed HPE White Clarino Grey liner Orthomove Insoles +2mm runners They said typical turn time is 4-6 weeks, but lately they've been closer to 3. Can't wait! Ordered my
  6. Not currently. They're in storage, but I can probably get some next time I run by there. They're a size 12 or 13 though (this was when they did actual shoe sizes).
  7. I have a pair of the old 3 fingered Wicked Lite gloves from back in the day and a pair or two of the old VSi skates, but no Wicket Lite skates.
  8. Any more thoughts on the shins after wearing them a bit? I have 2 sets of RBK/JOFA shins that I love but they're just freaking huge and I've loved the rest of the stx stuff I've had and was thinking about pulling the trigger on the RX3 shins.
  9. I've heard about guys saying the AS1 customs have a very contoured outsole, closely fitting their arch instead of being flat like a retail model. Any idea if the 70k would be similar or if the 2 piece construction would limit that? In the past, skates that didn't have enough volume and we lacking arch support (took me awhile to figure this out) gave me terrible arch pain. Insoles with high arch support and loosely lacing over the arch helped, but we're kind of annoying to have to do.
  10. I might have missed it somewhere, but are the total customs made in Canada? I'm in Nexus n9000s now as they're the only skate I've found that had enough volume, but the rest of the fit isn't great. My left foot is wider than the right and had to stretch that boot but it's still not great. I've got high arches and really wide toes (they're also cartoon like, biggest toe is the longest, and they get shorter from there). On boots or shoes, there's always a spot where my big toe pushes out on the inside edge of the toe of the shoe and stretches it out and I've got wicked calluses on that part of my toe. I really don't want to drop over a grand for a pair of skates, but it seems like that might be a good route to go. Then I also have to figure out which line to go with. Trying some on, the 70Ks felt the best, but I way failed the volume test. The AS1's did ok, came closer to passing volume but wasn't quite as comfortable overall. I was told my the closest 3D scanner shop (still 4 hours away) that the XS holders aren't available until this summer. Anyone else hearing the same thing? I'm debating whether I want to go ahead and do this, or if I should wait till this summer. I'm assuming that's when the FT2 and "90k" (or whatever it'll be called ) will be launched? In the for what it's worth category, I'm also a big dude, 6'2" 260lbs, low level d2, high d3 skater, usually skate 3 times a week. Any thoughts?
  11. In the FWIW category, I was up in MN for a family reunion and managed to make it by General Sports in Edina/Minneapolis. Had a really knowledgeable guy work with me on some skate options. Unfortunately they hadn't gotten their CCM scanner in just yet, but he did go through some bauer skates and did the Bauer 3d fit. It said I was a 10.5D in supremes. He said the scanner tends to run big and had me try on a 9.5 and 10. Now in my Nexus, My toe feathers the end of the toe cap if I'm standing straight up, and when i squat down, it barely pulls off. I really felt like the 9.5 was too short, but the 10.0 wasn't as bad as I though, and I'm sure my heel would kick back in a little bit after a bake. The width still killed me. It was pretty uncomfortable on the outside of the ball of my foot, and my pinky toe bunched up on top of the other toes. He pretty strongly recommended the True skates, went ahead and did a scan to potentially order some at a later date and mail them to me. I'm warming up to the idea of the Trues, but I'm still just a bit skeptical of something that I can't even remotely try on before hand, something with zero local support for, and they still just look absolutely crazy to me. I'm looking forward to seeing some more feedback from people doing the CCM customs.
  12. I felt the same way on my Supreme 180s as well as Nexus N9000. Bob at NoIcing Sports ultimately ended up recommending a 8'/13' w/ minor forward pitch and that fixed me right up.
  13. Where did you get scanned? Here in Alabama?
  14. The only time I've seen pics of eyelet extenders, they're at the top of the skate, like top 2-3 eyelets. Where I'm failing is like 4,5,6 down. Do you just fasten them lower, or am I missing something here?
  15. I'm sure it's harder than it seems, but then again, it doesn't seem like it'd be THAT hard? My mom has an old industrial sewing machine that'd make quick work of the stitching part. I love my Easton/Bauer Pro15 bag. The design of it is fantastic. Dimensions are great (it actually fits in the trunk of my little BRZ.) However, it doesn't seem that well made, the zippers suck, and I'd love a little more room. My thoughts are to make something pretty similar but with a nice cordura material instead of this weird vinyl stuff they used. Nice big #10 YKK zippers. Might do something like the top flap on the Pacific Rink bags for some jersey storage and put another end pocket on instead of a helmet compartment. Might also put in some mesh venting Grit Airbox style. Am I under thinking this, or is it as do-able as I'm thinking?
  16. So the 70ks I was able to get in were 10.5D. They feel pretty good. The toe box is a little narrow. Is the toe box wider in EE as well? It still doesn't have quite enough volume to pass the pencil test, but it's close. It feels tight in the heel. With as moldable as these are, I'm wondering if I went with an EE and baked them, if it'd settle my heel in enough to give me a little more volume. Also i keep reading about the tongues being moldable. Even if i was still failing the pencil test, with this tongue, is it something I'd have to worry about lace bite with?
  17. I actually just ordered a pair of 70k's to try (I love IW) and see if they work. I tried a pair of the new supertacks and the volume was somehow even worse than the jetspeeds, and even in EE, the toe box was too narrow. I'm really hoping is a good option.
  18. This is interesting. When I was trying skates last year (mostly mail order, local shop doesn't stock much) I never thought to try Ribcores due to everything saying they're low volume. I did try some tacks (the ones before the SuperTacks) and the volume wasn't much better than the jetspeeds in EE (which fit great except the volume). What features are these?
  19. Really the thing with the nexus is not that I need the width. A supreme in EE fits my width just fine, i just need some more depth.
  20. Lots of new lines in the last year, but it doesn't look like any are offering a higher volume/instep like the Nexus. Am I missing anything? My Nexus n9000 are the only thing I've passed a pencil test with, but the heel is still too wide. It seems crazy that I don't have any other options aside from going custom?
  21. It pretty much always does it after I practice shooting at home, where I am usually doing a chunk of slapshots. So I'm maybe hitting the ground too hard before the puck? I'm 260 and using an 85 flex stick, though I'm most chunky then muscular, and definitely lacking in upper body strength.
  22. I'm about 6 months into playing ice after about a 6 or 7 year hiatus from playing a few years of inline. I was getting some occaisional elbow pain in my left elbow (I shoot right), but that seems to have mostly worked itself out. However I am getting some not infrequent pain in my right wrist after some games, sometimes lasting for days. It always happens after I've been doing some shooting on the shooting pad in the driveway. It feels like it's right at the wrist joint and on the back side. I've tried stretching it out both ways, and really in all directions both before and after, and it doesn't really help. Anyone know exactly what's going on here and what I can do to prevent it? I am a big guy with pretty pathetic strength for my size. I know I need to do some strength training, but what can I do to address this specifically?
  23. What kind of volume do you need? I needed up in a Nexus 9000 due to the volume/high arch. The heel is tight enough that it doesn't cause blisters, but it's definitely not quite as comfortably snug as a Jetspeed in EE felt (but failed the pencil test miserably).
  24. Again, thanks for the feedback. This: is a much more helpful answer and what I was looking for and asking for in the first place than: I don't need justification for what I'm doing, if that's all I needed, I would have stopped with teammates saying I'm fine. I do appreciate some of the feedback from you and the other guys. I think I might also try asking some of the opposing captains and refs for some more specific feedback and advice on what specifically to change from people seeing what's going on rather than going off of my (probably poor) explanation of the situation or observations. Not doubting you guys, but they potentially can give me a better answer than "and you know it. Period. End of story." Absolutely, I can concede to that. What I'm trying to figure out is where the line is, where different people's opinions are with it. That's one of the major perks of forums.
