The girl friend (she is breezie on the site) and I played in a tournament this weekend and since it was the 10th anniversary of it they gave us free photos! The first picture shows why I love 11ks so much.

First game in 3 years, first ever on ice (played inline since 1996). Butterflies the whole day, really excited about playing and thinking that this level is just up my alley. 2-0 win at the end of the night, with my contributions - goal line clearance, goalie says he owes me a beer for the shutout - started game with 85 flex that lasted one shift and went back to my 75 flex widow (yes, oldie but goodie). Managed to get the puck at the point, and just let one rip. Destined for the top corner but goalie managed to just tip it over. I would say that was the hardest shot I've ever hit ...ever. - loose puck top of the faceoff circle, kept shouting 'mine mine' and my line mate left it to me. Deked around one, and quick snapper that was off by plenty. Took a couple hits during the game, unintentional as I knew the other team guys were just as experienced as I am on the ice. Couple times they asked if was alright and i just replied 'no prob, just keep going!' Made a couple mistakes and slipped up a few times as I dont skate well towards my left. Overall I liked the pace of the game, feel of the ice, and the chatter during and after the game (with both my team and opposing team). Was good to just go out there and have fun with no real stress about winning/losing. LEarning as we go along, especially need to play an early pass so that we dont get caught offside, pitching in too early and getting caught out. Just need to keep it simple . OVerall, sore but satisfied... still buzzing the day after.

The only "better" neutral would either be all-white, retro tan, or even grey. Sounds like a good purchase.

Looking a lot smoother and stable! Haha, chk hrd, try telling Mike Peluso there's no crying in hockey. (I get the league of their own reference)

Sure will! I should get them Tuesday or Wednesday but I won't be able to actually see them until Thursday when I get home from college. Ended up going with a white/black/black. If you look at the navy/sport gold option its basically those with any color on those being black on mine. I just think the white and black looks sharp with pretty much any jersey colors and it'll match good with the rest of my gear.

Why is it that the guy who sends the pregame email saying "...short hard shifts, wingers stay high on the point guys, lots of smart passing and shots..." is the same guy who takes long shifts, coasts, keeps letting his guy free and doesn't pass or shoot exceptionally well? Ugh!

Tried on the Brian's in store but they just seemed like too much adjustment for me while I'm still getting used to pads in general. The way they rotated was insane! I ended up getting the Reebok's. I just couldn't beat the price of them, with my rewards from Total Hockey I ended up getting the price down to $250. They didn't have many colors in stock so I ordered online right there in the store. Can't say enough about the customer service of Total Hockey! My 5-hole problem should be completely fixed though. Ended up with a 33+1 and they're absolutely perfect! When I do decide to upgrade again in the future it will for sure be a tough decision between Brian's and CCM. I just couldn't stop myself from taking up the great deal I was getting on the Reebok's. The employees also told me that they've been selling those left-and-right since they started the deal so that lead to me acting pretty fast on those. Can't wait for them to get here but too bad I've got a bye week this next week. I'll have to see about some drop in over the weekend.

Didn't feel too great this morning and the both of us (goalies) got shelled again. Also, the Screaming Man managed to sign himself up again! He was on his best behavior, and skating out, but I was not (and several of my teammates were not) happy with this. I don't care if he's on my side for the day or not. Made some good saves, though. One I caught between my knees and sort of sat back and went into tetris mode to protect it, and the other guy kept jabbing at me, and I jabbed back at him, and Misha had to pry him off me. And they were playing on the same side! Things got wicked intense the last 10 minutes or so - the pace quickened considerably. I did make the last stop of the game right at the horn, though. In a half-hour, I return to the rink for tournament team tryouts. For two hours. Because, of course, the best plan of action for a Saturday is to play and practice hockey for three hours. (Next week is Spring Break for the school down the street, and the rink is having extra stick time hours, and I can make 3 of 5 if I so choose.)

My team must have really thought I played pretty well last week cause they gave me the start again last night. We ended up winning 7-2 and I thought my positioning had already improved drastically from last week. The other team brought in a ringer and he ended up beating me on the last goal. He managed to sneak it in 5-hole and the first one ended up doing the same. I had bought my leg pads used and they are about 2-3 inches too short so my 5-hole doesn't get completely covered. Now that I know that I enjoy playing in net I'm gonna start putting together some money to buy a pair of leg pads that actually fit me perfectly. I wanna try and stay at around $500 or less but if there's a pad that is only a bit more and has outstanding reviews I would definitely consider them. Based off of that does anyone have some recommendations? All my other gear I got for good deals and it's all decent stuff but the leg pad problem needs to get fixed.

i took a puck to the eye during a shinny skate in Mississauga because some idiot Defenceman thought he could sauce the puck over his own player, there's some people out there u gotta cover your eyes when they do stupid shit because u can't tell some people the truth everyone thinks they got something to prove .. But I love the game so much I have the ability to look beyond them like they are invisible ... They guy who drove me to the hospital was too busy trying to hit it on my girlfriend... I swear to god I'm sitting there blood spewing outta my eye and there he is smiling joking around lol the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen

Following up to my previous post, I attended the C Div Trials yesterday. It was a loooong session, and I was really struggling towards the last 15 min in keeping my feet. I havent done many drills before, so it was really me trying to stay on top of things. Met a couple of good people, and prior to going I already knew that they had a couple of team 'scouts' watching, that was the whole purpose of the session. I also had butterflies in my stomach, but felt a little more relaxed when I finally stepped onto the ice. I think my saving grace moment was when I got a breakaway while the other team was doing a line change. As I got past the blueline on the right side, i saw my line mate just on my left side. I kept going straight at the goalie, and took a quick look over my shoulder... line mate was following up for rebound in case I missed. I faked a shot, deked the goalie, then dropped a pass for my line mate to score. Was fun just doing that, and I think my line mate was really surprised that I would just drop the pass. I think it will be a couple more sessions before I get my edges back, but last night was a blast.... Oh, and yes made the C Div.

Speaking of built-in shot protection (tongues and quarter panels). These are the VHs my friends and I all chipped in for as a birthday gift to a buddy. He volunteer coaches 3 times a week and has been wearing the same pair of beat-up One95s since they were released. Could never afford new skates. Here's to another few years! :)
