As Althomas, I have stocked up. I've got a pair of Mako IIs and M8s for myself, I figure that will cover me for about 5 years and it was less than $500 for both. My son started in MIIs this summer and loves them, so, I just got him a pair for when he grows out of these . I figure between his current and this new pair, I should be covered for 2 years. We'll see what's available at that point. Hard to pass up these deals though. As he said, even if there is a comparable skate in the future, there's no way it will be even close to this cheap and may not even be as good.

I would (and have) stock up. Besides, if Bauer were to release Mako like skates would you rather pay $1000 for those or the prices you can find Makos for on clearance now? These new theoretical Bauers would of course be cleared out at some point, but not for at least 2 years after they're released and even then they still might not dip as low as the current Mako prices.

Had my first open ice time with the skates, and almost immediately crashed into the boards. My balance and weight distribution were way off. After about an hour of skating though i really got used to them. Low aggressive skating, good edge control and the comfort was unreal. So do i need to stock up on these or with easton bought by bauer is there a chance we see an equivalent skate in the future.

Commenting on just the scanning, I've seen and worked on a number of applications that use this type of technology. If it's similar the scan is pretty good, it uses algorithms (not to far removed from facial and fingerprint scanning) to determine the image and placement and everything inside the image borders are rendered reasonably accurately. Whilst a dedicated, fixed work area using multiple lasers or cameras will give a highly accurate rendering, it's expensive and difficult to distribute and maintain in a retail sales environment. It can only get better if they continue to develop the software. An alternative process is to use a camera to take pictures of your foot then upload the pictures for them to be rendered into a 3d image, I've seen a company working on this (real estate company builds a 3d image of your home which you can use VR to walk through) and the results are damn good. I wish VH would follow this path, a near perfect last (use a 3D printer) to build a boot (eventually using a 3D printer for this) regardless of where you live in the world. Here is an example of using 123D catch (free software even) to build a last from photos: http://www.123dapp.com/123C-3D-Model/Foot/866435 I'd even pen this as an open letter to VH, if you could work with software like this to create lasts in your factory from photos taken locally, I could personally send around 150 skaters your way overnight..... And yes, this kind of technology turns the distribution market on its head but I suspect its only a matter of when before someone tools up for this.

I was told by my doc that the displacement was enough that I would have long term issues with arthritis and other joint issues if I didn't have surgery. I didn't heal any faster than someone who was not cut on. Work up slowly back to playing. I tried to kill myself at therapy, I would push myself until the therapist told me to stop. My time slot was 30-45 min and I was usually there for an hour and a half. I did this not only to get back on the but for my job as well. I was lucky and my local rink started adult clinics on Monday nightso, so I was able to use that to get back into playing shape. Good luck IPv6freely.

While I'll admit upfront that I know nothing about 3D scanning, just looking at above process I would have some reservations about the scan's accuracy. And PAID reviews are WORTHLESS...

As much as it slowed my progress by not having it, I'm kind of happy I didn't have surgery based on the posts by you two, and others in this thread. It took me over a month longer than expected to actually get to where I am now, but at least I should have no issue with skating going forward. At least, once I build up the strength in BOTH legs/feet again so they aren't tired after 15 minutes. I can now balance on that foot, which obviously requires a lot of work in the foot to maintain the stabilization. It hasn't been painful to put full weight on it in a couple weeks, but it was still difficult to balance. I sure couldn't do that even a week ago, though. And now I'm working up the strength to stand on my toes on just my bad foot. It's difficult and I don't get really high, but I couldn't move it AT ALL at the last PT appointment. Week to week it's amazing to see the improvement. This weekend, I'm planning on bringing my gear, suiting up, and taking warmups. Then just sitting on the bench for the game. I figure it's a good way to see where I'm at without throwing myself into game action. I also plan to try to join in with my old pickup group next Tuesday. We'll see how the skating at public sessions goes this week.

I don't remember this having ever been posted in here. Here's a video of the 3D scanning process:
