I think it's getting hard now to find a big tournament where you won't see a Sparx in the hallway. I saw the same thing last year at Bantam and Midget tournaments like the Monctonian (Moncton, New Brunswick) and Icejam (Halifax, Nova Scotia). The portability, ease of use and lack of mess make it a no-brainer for travel teams that have budget for such things.

Played a game in mine last night. What an awesome skate! Took me about half the first period to get used to them. Amazing how stable they feel. I'm happy with the Step Holder and Steel. The skate goes exactly where you foot goes. In all my years of Hockey I've never had a skate remotely close. I'm pretty happy!

Yes. The Prosharp Skatepal is an excellent machine. Not a cheap imitation like the Sparx, which basical copied proshops design. The Skatepal is a very durable machine and they've been making them for over a decade. They are the same Swedish quality as their proshop versions, just scaled down and simplified for the home user. Their diamond wheels can sharpen up to 1000 skates, as opposed to 40 for the Sparx. I would strongly recommend the Skatepal.

I have battled some weight issues my whole life. By 9th grade I was over 200 lbs and in college over 220. Early on in my marriage in my late 20s I was up to 254. I have yo-yo'd around once dropping 60 to get to a low of 194 but then went back to 227. A year and a half ago I was convinced to try a cleanse system called Isagenix. In one month I went from around 218 to 203. Over the last year or so I kept a lot of but I was back to 216 in September when my wife, who also battles weight, said; "Hey lets do Isagenix again." I jumped at it knowing I was going to play in a tournament in November. My goal was to be 198 by the time I stepped on the ice in Montreal. Today I woke up and I was 199.5! I haven't been this light in about 20 years and even then it was only for a short period of time. I know I will reach that goal and I truly believe this time I have learned what I need to do and will change my lifestyle and keep it off. It's such an great feeling!!!!
