Well after trying pretty much every skate on the market without success, I finally broke down and got scanned for Trues today. If these don't work then I'm taking it as a sign that I need to retire!

That's good to know about their skates. I think I'll have to find a shop that can handle this in the meantime. Maybe spring for a pair of True skates in 2020? We'll see. Thanks.

Ive seen repairs for that but you have to find a reputable shop to do it. That seems to happen somewhat frequently, at least from the hockey shops I follow on IG. This would never happen. With the true toe caps because of how they're designed. The plus side of the bulky looking true toe cap.

My old VH (last version prior to True) are still mostly flawless. I would definitely have zero concerns about longevity.

Went to the Ottawa Senators equipment sale today. Doors opened at 9am and staff said people showed up at 9pm to camp out. We got there at 9:15 and waited about 45 minutes in line and there was a decent selection when we got in. At the start they had about 20 Erik Karlsson sticks for $100 each, they had about 4 left when I made it through. I thought the prices were pretty good, it was based on a sticker system but Reebok practice jerseys were $20, white RBK/Reebok game jerseys were $20, game and practice socks were $10, pant shells were $20. Gloves, helmets, skates and pants started at $50 and went up to $300.I was able to pick up:4 Reebok practice jerseys (2 white, 1 red, 1 black) $20 each1 pair of away socks $10Mark Stone alternate Warrior pant shell (used) $20Bauer 1N Nexus gloves without the Bauer cuff (new) $75 Also scored my brother in laws stall tag from when he attended their rookie camp last year

Hey guys - Steve Jones here from Sparx. Thought I would make an "official" Sparx Hockey account to answer any questions that have (or will) come up! We recently changed some of our marketing language around pairs of skates per Grinding Ring. We initially based the 40 pairs of skates on everyone doing four cycles, but based on the actual useage of our entire customer base - specifically the home user - they are doing far less passes per sharpening (which makes sense, because if you are sharpening more often, you can easily do fewer passes as a quick touch up.) We have seen rings last 80-90 pairs of skates and on the other hand, we've seen some last 40 pairs based on four cycles as originally estimated, but the actual average is closer to 60 for the home user. Again, it all depends on how many cycles you are doing per sharpening. Hope that helps clarify any confusion - it was a running change on packaging, so there are definitely some boxes with the old language still out there!
