The size chart on IW is teh same for all skates. Its not skate or brand specific.

I got my 7.0R, 7.0W, 7.5R, and 7.5W skates today. I measure the following in custom skates: Right Foot Width: 102 mm Length: 266.3 mm Left Foot Width: 99.7 mm Length: 261.9 mm In the TF7 I wear a 7.5W and in the TF9 I wear a 7.0W. I could maybe fit the R width but it was a little tighter than I prefer and I figure once I start skating and my foot swells a little they would likely be uncomfortable. I assume the lower profile tongue of the TF9 allows me to fit into a slightly smaller skate. When I swapped the TF9 tongue into the TF7 in a size 7.0 it seems to fit fine. All of this testing was done with the skates unbaked and also baked. Baking them changes the fit dramatically.

@oldtrainerguy28 I don't suppose there is a noticeable difference in weight between the two?

Depends on how much of your toes you wan brushing up against the toe cap. Some like it not to touch at all. Some like it to feather. And some like it more or less "jammed". You should take the footbeds out and stand on that to see how sizing is. The footbeds length is a really good indicator of the length unless the footbeds is too small or too large for the boot (which I've seen in the past with true customs, but nothing recent?). For me true has pretty much been size 7 for my left foot and 6.5-6 to 3/4 for my right. I know this bc I use Bauer speed plates in them and the size 7 SP fits the left boot perfect but the right I have to trim close to the 6.5.

Interesting. I came from 72/80 Hi-Lo setup which I retained for a long time since the change to 76/80, and I found the sprungs much more maneuverable with 80s. I'm excited to hear this as I still haven't gotten time to choose boots to mount them on, but I'm glad to hear the performance is there.

Sadly the hockey culture isn't big in Iceland (even tho we were the big bad guys in D2: The Mighty Ducks (1994) lol. we've got 3 top-tier teams (was 4) and 4-5 beer-league teams with try-hards and old-stars 🙂 Back to the topic, I thought of removing the tongues of the Bauer MX3's and putting it in the True's but it seemed a little drastic, figured i'd contact IW/True first and see if they'd be willing to help me out with True tongues. Still, if nothing comes out of that, i might try to stich/glue white felt on the back of the True tongue and if that doesn't work then i'll probably just swap tongues. Hey Tomatoe 🙂 I was gong to call today but True answered my e-mails this morning, said there was issue with their e-mail server or something, we've started the dialogue, hopefully they can set something in motion to ship me new tongues.

It's interesting, I wonder if nylon on nylon may actually stay tighter than nylon (the nut) on metal. I know I need to give mine a bit of a twist every once in a while.

So you want TRUE to offer top tier skate at half the cost of the other guys and also provide stores demo skates as well? Anything else to add to your Christmas wish list? How about free demo sticks and free demo gear too?

I recently have been considering implementing a fitting fee which would then be applied to the cost of purchasing a pair of skates. Too many people come in to get fit and then go online and buy used skates or pro stock return from other sources. I normally wouldn't complain about our stores doing a fitting or even baking skates for a customer but since we are down 300% in sales this year I can't keep offering services like that for free. Gone are the days where I could replace rivets or eyelets for customers free of charge. 😞

I always wonder why the index is 3-piece. That's the straightest finger when gripping a hockey stick. Middle and ring need to be 3-piece. I think it's because there's so much focus on the index finger when trying the glove on and doing the punch grip test. But for handling with a stick, that's not really necessary.

HP30 and the HP35 are more or less the same pant. They are the same as the HP520 pant with upgrades. There's a few minor differences such as the +1 zipper or zipper on the legs that one or the other might not have but fit wise they are the same and fit like traditional pants and are medium on the weight scale. HP70 is very much a traditional pant and is a copy of the old Tackla 7000 / 9000 pants if you've ever tried those on. They fit like tanks, look like tanks, are as heavy as tanks. HP45 and HPUCLP are the CCM RBZ/UCLP equivalent pant. They are the lightest pants on the market and provide adequate protection as well as seemingly(I don't have proof but there are very few other models used for CCM) being the most popular model CCM pant used in the NHL. UCLP is the older version and are a two piece pant (uppers and lowers can be separated). HP45 is a one piece pant usually with the +1 extension. The lining material on both the pants is slightly different and the lower back protector is also different, but all both pants function roughly the same. Most pro stock enthusiasts that use CCM pants ride along with the trend and prefer the HP45/HPUCLP model over the HP35/30/70. The lightness of the pants with good protection(enough for NHL players to use) makes it the clear cut choice. Sizing for the HP45/HPUCLP gets wonky because both pants fit a little short and small. I'm assuming "36-37" is your pants waist size and not your actual waist measurement. So, a large sizing guideline is 34-36 and XL is 36-38. Based on the small fitting of the HP45 and your waist size, I would go for an XL. However, since you're also 5'9 (me too but my waist is 31 and I fit a medium HP45 snugly), the length of the pants maybe too long. I find that being 5'9'' myself, the medium HP45 is just perfect with the +1 extension so XL for you may be too long.
