after many years of wanting a Nissan Skyline R34, I finally went out and bought one. Asked the wife prior to the purchase on what car I can get, to which the reply was "whatever you want since you are the only one to drive it."... so said Skyline has been fun to drive around. Less than a month later, the wife decides to stop by the local car dealer to check out the latest Honda CRV, and basically my Skyline is history... Bye bye buddy, it was good while it lasted.

This is a video of one of the games I played in last week... I was surprised that they asked me to play on the PK, 3 blocked shots (one with the glove) on that one shift. At the end of the game, I had about 8 blocked shots, 3 of them using the glove. Give me some comments on my skating... going to work on it more this year, along with trying to carry the puck up more instead of dumping it when on the PK. Btw, I'm the one with the silver helmet and red gloves.

Got called up a few weeks ago to represent state again this year at Nationals... filled with excitement to play in Masters (30-40 yrs) and Vets (over 40)... Vets I had to get special dispensation to play as a backup tender. So far in Vets, I've havent had to play yet, but being on the bench with my buds is fun enough. As for Masters... 2 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tied game in the preliminaries... The loss going to QUeensland as we screwed up our lines to self destruction. We were seeded to play them again in the Semis, and hammered 7 past them in a great win. We got knocked out today by Tasmania in a really good game. HIghlights of the tournament for me: - being able to finish a hard body check (even though it resulted in a penalty) - blocking a LOT of shots - setting up a goal with a nice one time feed into the centre - sliding to block a shot that hit me hard enough to go down to the other end, ending up with a breakaway for us that my buddy missed... obviously the crowd could hear me chirping him the rest of the game from that miss - blocking a cleared pass with my hand, setting the puck down, looking at the clock, then setting up the slapper from centre faceoff circle and on target. Goalie had it saved though. - getting to play with my buddies again... - clearing the puck that had me hit the boards hard head first, and thanking myself for buying a M11 helmet. - getting credited by the under 11's kids that I helped to coach... somehow just make me feel like a hero - buddy of mine giving me massive credit... when the kids asked me what position I played, he said I was a 'superstar defenceman, goalie, shot blocker and setup man' - getting to meet and know some of the best hockey chicks around! my offers of free back rubs and massages are still valid! thanks for the fun times... Vets Gold Medal Game tomorrow... would go nice with the Bronze for Masters (should have gotten the Gold) and the Masters Gold I got last year.

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
fatwabbit replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
Its similar... a shim would be something you used to level off uneveness. The heel lift actually increases the height at the rear of the skate, giving you a more forward lean or pitch. Shims can be made of plastic milk cartons, but the heel lift would need to be something more solid.- 2855 replies

Last game tonight for me in Perth... been playing with these guys for close to 4 years and really loving it. Game finished 6-4, one goal, two assists, two rang off the crossbar. Overall a great and fun game, not overly physical, but a lot of good friends and memories. Need to find a new team in Brisbane... spoke to a league organiser from Brisbane last week and he asked me what my skill level was like... replied "I can skate if that helps"... going to start with dropin, then go from there.

Would have prefered the Irish in the World Cup instead ...

Grand Final Game... everyone was pretty pumped and we were playing a team that we hammered twice this season already. We didnt play our normal game, so a lot of disarray. We got a goal in the first 30 sec, but they hit us twice in the next 3 minutes. At the faceoff after their second goal, I lined up on the LW side. Looked up and saw their goalie pretty far out, towards his left side. Our Captain won the face off with the puck squirting forward 3 feet, I took the puck and just hit a hard low shot from inside the faceoff circle in the center, goalie didnt move until puck was in the net. Game went back and forth, with us losing 5-4 in the last 2 minutes. Pulled the goalie with one minute to go, and we were peppering the goalie with shots. One guy from our team took a shot with 5 sec to go... right thru the goalie's legs. No overtime, so we went to penalty shoot out. Took the first penalty shot, really hard to goalie's blocker side... no chance. The guy who scored the game tie-ing goal got the other goal... So we ended up the season with a pretty good record, I think we lost 2 or 3 games, but this year its been really really fun. Everyone has clicked together, passes tape to tape, some really sweet goals scored. Next week is my last week before moving to another city... so we're trying to get an early game so that we can get into the booze and food!

How many times does a company keep removing employee benefits without telling the employees... seems like everytime I check there is something new or wrong.

Ol' pal and mentor in my company just passed away last week after fighting cancer... grumpy ol' bastard, but lots of good advice given... RIP Foxy. Tried to find a house in the new city we're moving to next month... 8 families viewing one house that looked like a dungeon, with fake skulls and everything. We did put in applications for two places, one that got turned down. Now waiting on the other to confirm... dont know why people cant understand the conditions you want to include when you break it down specifically .... it was more stressful waiting and waiting, and still waiting.

They should fit... I think they might be refering to the dremmeling that needs to be done to allow clearance for the second wheel.- 2855 replies

haha... heard that one before, and one that i hear frequently in my line is: dealer to sell to customer at discounted price, while me working for the manufacturer to drop my price so that the dealer can make the same margin of profit... on top of that, for me to provide additional warranty, and pay for any problems along the way...

Not a Chelsea fan, but I would prefer them to win over ManU anyday.

played a good team game last night, breaking a 2 game losing streak (if you can call it a streak). Ended up 5-1 winners, and kudos to our 13 year old standin goalie while our actual goalie was off to Europe with his missus. The goalie stopped numerous shots, was unfazed at everything... he kept us in the game enough for us to settle down and play like a team. We killed about 5 penalties, with everyone just taking it easy and making hte passes to waste some time. Got a nice goal as well... we were passing really well during the shift, and me playing in the high slot. Anticipated that my team mate would intercept a pass, and he drove it up the right wing, with me heading towards the net... played a soft pass to me, slow enough to draw the goalie out for a poke check... pulled the puck away from him a split second before he got it, and the practice of pulling to the backhand and shot kicks in.. puck was in the net before the goalie could even extend for his poke check... thought it was a nice goal, well set up... but the bench just thought it was really sick how we did all the passing.

jerseys look good...

2 goals, 2 assists in last night's game, although missing on two breakaways (deke to backhand hit the post, goalie gloved my top shelf on second attempt). Overall we still played pretty well but could have done more. Bittersweet though, as I now know that I'll be moving to another city in a few months time. Hoping that hockey there is as big as it is here...

Darkbyte mentioned something about a spray on type solution, used for bikes and visors to prevent scratches... cant remember the brand but it supposedly works wonders

stupid telco part Deux! telco sends a guy to come in to fix the problem line, and happens to cut my internet... now internet provider needs to send someone to fix it as well.
-
stupid telco... first they had some problem with the phone line (which I didnt subscribe to), but it affects the internet connection. Two weeks without internet, and now they have to send someone out to fix the line between 1-5pm. Idiots... whats the point of making an appointment, when they cant fix the damn thing during that time, and then have to come another day.

Karma's a bitch...

I was thinking the same thing, but it may have been centralized in relation to the cuff...

hahha..... believe me!!!! Lets put it this way... some know that I've been looking at the Graf skates, especially the G70, 670 and 570 for some time. G70 are priced out of my range... so the obvious choice would be the 670 which I got thru a real good trade. helmet I bought from a member here... and all these decisions were made before we got the jerseys (only third game so far this season)... and the Captain didnt tell us about the new colors until the day before we got the jerseys in time for the first game. But, hey... i know I'm not the best or even a good player, but at least I look good...
