  1. Should have a very quick first three steps then go in to a full stride. Honestly, you're looking great. Maybe try to keep your chest/chin a little more upright. Looks like you're getting decent knee bend. Concentrate on keeping your arms moving forward and backward with less of a swing/twist to them. Screen cap'd a frame, you want to keep momentum going as linear forward and backward as possible. As you can see, your front arm is curled in front of your chest and the back arm is swinging out.
  2. Wow, so much improvement on those backwards crossovers in such a short amount of time. I don't know if you're doing it off camera, but make sure you're going around the circle both ways. If you want to mix it up, go around the circle facing the scoreboard the entire time, pivoting from forwards to backwards and vice versa at the top and bottom of the circle. When you're getting back up after the rolls, make sure you keep your feet underneath you. I'm nut sure if the second one when you were coming back if your foot slipped or not. One knee up then the other, you don't have to spring both legs at the same time. A drill for that is to skate the length of the ice. Drop one knee of the near blue line, dive on the red and the other knee on the far blue. Or do one knee three times, etc.
  3. You're doing a great job of keeping your knees bent! You're not bobbing much and you're staying pretty level. It makes all the difference. As you get more comfortable, you'll be able to drive the inside leg and extend it rather than just step over. Maybe try slow, purposeful strides once you find your balance. The first video, you seemed to be relying pretty heavily on the stick to balance you, the second video you weren't using it as as much of an aid. Oh, I'll actually be playing in a tournament down at that rink from 3/18-3/20!
  4. Looking much better. However, as others have commented, keep that front foot planted. The back heel may lift as your weight transfers and your follow through. Keep the knees bent, drive the momentum forward, less twisting. Make sure you're pointing the toe of the stick on the follow through where you want the puck to go.
  5. In the first video, I think you're kind of slicing it a bit too much. Like you're catching it mid-toe instead of heel-mid and not turning your wrists over to point the puck in the direction you want it to go. It got a little better with the regular pucks toward the end. Also, you're transferring your weight to the back leg then twisting instead of transferring from the back leg to the front leg. Think of it like putting all your weight on the bag leg and driving all that momentum through to the front leg and pointing the toe of the blade where you want it to go as you follow through. I was doing the basics of shooting with my JV kids the other day, most would transfer the weight back, but not forward or they wouldn't follow through with the stick. I'm definitely jealous of the amount of ice time you're getting to work on the basics of hockey. There's so much I wish I could work on. Keep up the great work!
  6. 2. Full stands on the side opposite the benches.
  7. Some video from wearing a GoPro on my helmet during a scrimmage. Unfortunately, it got batted off my head at the end.
  8. The only thing I can really comment on is the amount of hip swaying, but it could just be me. Use that energy to drive through your legs. Otherwise, looks like you're doing great. Knees bent, chest up, you're in good shape.
  9. As a New Jersey native, may God have mercy on your soul. On the other hand, you have a rink right there if you can bring your equipment with you. Flyers Skate Zone http://ac.flyersskatezone.com/
  10. Got to check out a 5.2 tonight and I'm very impressed with the weight and balance. Thinking about picking either that or a 6.0 up when it's available. I switched from the Bauer P88 to P14 last year and I'm leaning towards an MC curve.
  11. I don't know if you have to be the person tied to that number/account or not. Interesting question. My friend just went from custom Flex Lites to custom Nexus' using his ticket number. Honestly, after 17 years, I'd just spend the extra cash and go custom from scratch. It's definitely worth it.
  12. Are the Ultra G75 Lite sticks out in X-Whip (65) flex? I haven't seen them at any retailers yet.
  13. That's a great looking skate. Love the all-black Graf design with the bright green graf logo. Wish all skates ran a simpler design.
  14. Hah, I played in that tourny. I wish they'd do another one.
  15. Tell me about it. I think he's the one that used to do all the music and sound effects. I kind of miss them haha.
  16. Ice House? I recognize the scorekeeper lol. Which team?
  17. If you have a decent fitting, I don't think it should matter what sizes compare to other skates. You essentially start from scratch.
  18. Check the bottom of page 10, I posted a pic of mine. A year and a half in my customs now and I'm still in love with them.
  19. 7 out of 16 players on my one team are Asian. It's pretty impressive.
  20. Yeah, aside from just lengths and widths, there are 4 or 5 other measurements at the very least, from what I can remember. Are there any other shops within a reasonable driving distance? You should really have someone with experience do this stuff. It'll be worth the extra effort/trouble.
