Devils may steal a game or two if Vasilevskiy is still cold and Kinkaid is still running hot. But they got crushed in the run of play the first two meetings of the season and barely nudged past breaking even in the third. Out of all the series, I'm finding this one the hardest to judge. Just excited the Devils made the playoffs and Hall's playoff drought has ended.

Thanks! It was an unreal experience. So proud of the kids! And good luck to your kids! That's why I enjoy being an assistant on varsity and then coaching JV. I get to work mostly with the players and their development and don't really have to deal with any of the politics involved. But I'm sure high school hockey is a different animal than travel.

I've been coaching high school hockey for ten years (just won our first state championship!) I also work with the youth program teaching kids ages three-and-up how to ice skate and play hockey. This forum's a great idea! I love it and balancing skill work, systems and just overall player development on and off the ice. The psychological aspect to coaching is something I hope comes in use if I ever become a parent haha.

Skates Recommendation Narrowish Heel. Wide Forefoot
MyBoxersSayJoe replied to Machine's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
This is the problem I had. I would get EE Vapors, but then I'd get heel lift. Ended up going the custom route on APX's and it's been pure bliss since. -

What a jump! Probably some of the most progress we've seen yet! I'm trying to put my thumb on it, maybe you're stepping over more so than driving the legs under? Definitely make sure you're keeping the butt down, knees bent, chest up, especially transitioning forwards to backwards or vice versa. It's great to see you pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. Your first steps are great, you're really getting the feet moving and shifting your weight well, just stay low when you switch directions. When you fell, it looks like it was a matter of leaning and having your center of gravity off. -
If she's determined, ask if she can sit in the penalty box or on the bench with a helmet. That's what I do when I'm injured and can't play.

I was bummed I didn't buy more the first time I saw them sell out. Saw more come up and bought a bundle. This'll probably last me three years haha.

Two 55 Flex, 4 65 flex. Covert QR1's dressed as Dynasty HD1's.

Maybe it's all the sales, but I've definitely seen an uptick of Grafs on mens league players over the past couple of months. Everything from traditional 707's to the newer lines.

Yeah, I think Larsson is severely underrated being that he's on the Devils and their struggle's been not scoring enough despite solid D. Larsson's coming into his own, he's got an excellent contract. Definitely going to miss him here in NJ. Hope he doesn't take the brunt of being the reason Hall was traded in Edmonton.

I made the same jump. X60 Pros to APX2 Pros. Much different palm, more protection.

Do a search for blacking out skates on here. I think most people prefer to go to Bic Markit route.

Wow. Wow...loved my Graf 703's but they fell behind the skate tech in the early to mid-2000's.

Good luck hope you make it as well! Just won gold at a CAN/AM tournament in Atlantic City this weekend. We went 3-0-1. First time in five years of doing this. I'm in the front, to the right of the goalie and left of the banner.

Looking a lot smoother and stable! Haha, chk hrd, try telling Mike Peluso there's no crying in hockey. (I get the league of their own reference) -
2016 Sher-Wood Catalogue

The PlayRite system looks like it'll be a hit. Very smart move. Seeing the Rekker 60 senior in a 65 flex could be interesting to try when I get through my current sticks. I'm at that awkward inbetween intermediate and senior size and strength. -

Are the prices listed CAD or USD? The 1X shoulder pads have piqued my interest. Been looking to upgrade from my Vapor XXXX. They're light and comfortable, but it hurts like a mofo if I get blasted with a slapshot. -

Should have a very quick first three steps then go in to a full stride. Honestly, you're looking great. Maybe try to keep your chest/chin a little more upright. Looks like you're getting decent knee bend. Concentrate on keeping your arms moving forward and backward with less of a swing/twist to them. Screen cap'd a frame, you want to keep momentum going as linear forward and backward as possible. As you can see, your front arm is curled in front of your chest and the back arm is swinging out. -

Wow, so much improvement on those backwards crossovers in such a short amount of time. I don't know if you're doing it off camera, but make sure you're going around the circle both ways. If you want to mix it up, go around the circle facing the scoreboard the entire time, pivoting from forwards to backwards and vice versa at the top and bottom of the circle. When you're getting back up after the rolls, make sure you keep your feet underneath you. I'm nut sure if the second one when you were coming back if your foot slipped or not. One knee up then the other, you don't have to spring both legs at the same time. A drill for that is to skate the length of the ice. Drop one knee of the near blue line, dive on the red and the other knee on the far blue. Or do one knee three times, etc. -

You're doing a great job of keeping your knees bent! You're not bobbing much and you're staying pretty level. It makes all the difference. As you get more comfortable, you'll be able to drive the inside leg and extend it rather than just step over. Maybe try slow, purposeful strides once you find your balance. The first video, you seemed to be relying pretty heavily on the stick to balance you, the second video you weren't using it as as much of an aid. Oh, I'll actually be playing in a tournament down at that rink from 3/18-3/20! -

Looking much better. However, as others have commented, keep that front foot planted. The back heel may lift as your weight transfers and your follow through. Keep the knees bent, drive the momentum forward, less twisting. Make sure you're pointing the toe of the stick on the follow through where you want the puck to go. -

In the first video, I think you're kind of slicing it a bit too much. Like you're catching it mid-toe instead of heel-mid and not turning your wrists over to point the puck in the direction you want it to go. It got a little better with the regular pucks toward the end. Also, you're transferring your weight to the back leg then twisting instead of transferring from the back leg to the front leg. Think of it like putting all your weight on the bag leg and driving all that momentum through to the front leg and pointing the toe of the blade where you want it to go as you follow through. I was doing the basics of shooting with my JV kids the other day, most would transfer the weight back, but not forward or they wouldn't follow through with the stick. I'm definitely jealous of the amount of ice time you're getting to work on the basics of hockey. There's so much I wish I could work on. Keep up the great work! -
